CIC Credit Monitor Service - Experian ce credit manager Beware of the slam scam Internet

Paid for a credit report from Experian online, only wanted a credit report no additional services and checked the box that applied. Later checked my credit card statement regarding a charge from ce credit manager for $14.95. I had no idea who this was and after trial and error found out they were assoicated with Experian. Called the company to inquire if they charged my account and was immediately asked to give them my credit card number and social security number. I told them I was uncomfortable with giving them that information but I did manage to give them other information to confirm whether or not they were the ones that charged my card.

I spoke with a lady that informed me first that I had signed up for there credit monitoring service which came as a surprise to me because I have never signed up for those services. I had told them I had paid for a credit report directly from Experian back in December but that is all I requested. I was then informed that with the purchase of a credit report you automatically are enrolled for a free trial with no opting out and the emphaisis is on you to notify them. I do a very dillegent job of looking for misleading statements or additional charges and offers and when I ordered this report there was no mention of a free trial and if so there was nothing there that stated you were enrolling in another product or service.

It is a scam pure and simple, it would be comparable to going to McDonalds to buy a cheeseburger and getting charged later to see if you enjoyed that cheeseburger but needing to call the McDonalds you went to to have them not charge you for telling them whether or not you enjoyed the cheeseburger.

I feel unsafe that they are regarded as a major credit reporting agency there doesn't appear to be a shred of honesty with their operation and they are trusted to report the credit scores for millions.

How bout spending some of that stimulus money on investigating these menances on society.
