I received my most recent credit card statement and noticed a charge from CIC Credit monitoring service for $79.95. I did not solicit this, nor did I authorize this charge.
The initial call to the credit card company was fruitless. The woman informed me I had to call the merchant and obtain a confirmation number before the credit card company would file the dispute. This is absolutley FALSE information. Be persistent, make sure you inform the credit card company that you did not solicit these charges; you did not receive any service or products as a result of these charges; you did not authorize these charges; you did not cancel the order/subscriptions becasue you never placed the order in the first place.
At this point in time, the credit card company should initiate a conditional credit on your account and the paperwork should be started.
Be persistent. Do not let the credit card company representatives push you around. Document everything! Get names, ID's of the representatives you speak with, and be sure to follow up with everything!
