DO NOT BUY ANY SORT OF "MANUSCRIPT" FROM ANY ORGANIZATION ASSOCIATED WITH CIRCLE OF PHOTOGRAPHERS OR PHOTO LAUREATES.

I believe they are the same company with two different names because I received "congratulations" from both of them after entering only one contest. Both said my photo was appreciated for it's "assymetrical composition and light mixed used throughout". I think all entries are appreciated for that because I've seen several complaints with the same terms used.

They will go on to say that they're offering you a "manuscript" for a bargain price of $59 along with some other things like a plaque and biography for the manuscript. Why should I have to pay for being a finalist in a contest.

I wrote them back telling them not to publish my photo. They should send me a free copy at the very least if they want to publish my photo.

While it's very flattering to be considered a finalist in a contest and to have someone want to publish your photo, you shouldn't have to pay them to do it. Please do not send them any money - it's a big scam and I don't think they ever send manuscripts out or award any prize money.

100% truth: photolaureates.org is a scam--I'm a witness!

AUTHOR: greggjohnstun - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Sallie gives sound advice. I paid for the manuscript and never received it. I have tried for 3 years now to get my book, but SOL (their customer service guy) has finally stopped emailing me to tell me that I will get it. This is a scam. They prey on up-and-coming photography talent, promising them exposure and publicity. Do not buy from them, and do not believe anything. I have made a complaint to the BBB, which went unanswered. I have also made a complaint here, and filed a complaint with the FTC. Please avoid dealing with this company. They are not honest; they are scam artists!

not a rip off

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

I entered the same contest. They told me the exact same things. I did pay for the book and the plaque. And I have received both of them. I do not believe this is a scam because everything they told me was true and I received everything they said that I would.
