I now am the proud owner of a $900.00 paperweight. My Nikon 5700 has been sent in for repairs 3 times over the past three years and this time they sent it back with the note "beyond repair"
Precision Camera Repair, Inc. has notified me that my Nikon 5700 has "corrosion damage" that is not covered by the expensive extended warranty.
This camera has been well taken care of. The only way moisture could have gotten inside was simply by the fact that it existed in a world that does have humidity.
I have decided that investing hundreds of dollars for a camera (that doesn't even last as long as the purchased warranty) is not only a poor choice but also a mistake I will not repeat again.
I will pursue this through every available avenue but in the meantime, I will not pay more than a "few hundred" for a camera and will keep in mind that I may need to buy a new one unexpectedly. I also will not be purchasing any more "extended warranty's."
