Circuit City Extended Warranty - Assure IS A SCAM. I purchased the accidental warranty but it was never honored. I have paid over $300 to computer repair stores because Circuit City refuses to honor computer problems after it was dropped on the ground. Mt. Laurel New Jersey

I purchased a laptop computer from Circuit City with the accidental warranty for two years. I have not had the computer for a year yet. I called Circuit City in July when the kids had my computer. The computer just stopped working. It was black with no operating system. I was told that it was a software issue. Therefore I Paid over $200 to get it repaired. In actuality, the computer's hard drive blew out and was defective. The technician thought that there could have been a power surge which is covered under the extended warranty.

A month later the computer stopped working again. I once again returned it to a computer technician that I paid for. The problem was the insides were jiggled after being dropped.

On Friday, Oct 25, 2008 I dropped my laptop while putting it in the car. When I turned it on it said "no operating system." This was diagnosed before by the first technician. He explained that the motherboard/hard drive is not stable inside the computer. They taped it the last time to try and secure it. This is a problem with the ACER computers. None the less, the computer should have been covered since it was dropped. How would Circuit City know if it was a software issue if they won't even look at my computer?

I am frustrated about purchasing a warranty and having to keep getting it repaired out of pocket. To date I have spent over $300 on repairs since June 2008.

The city advantage accidental will cover power surges within the first year, will cover drops cracks and spills even the exterior software has some basic coverages for the first yeart if you bought this plan after may. To get some satisfaction you can return the warranty at anytime becuase there is a money back guarantee if you return it two years later they will give you a prorated amount of whats left over depending on your status talk to a manager and ask them what they will do you are on your third or fourth repair that they should refund your services because it was a hardware issue unless they removed viruses then that was all you. sorry. but if you have the advantage plan that covers software virus removal is included either way you shouldn't have been charged if that is the case. if they continue to give you flac call their store director or DM do not loose your temper the easier you are with them and the more you asked for their help the more they will do to try to help you. If you loose your temper or start going off no one will try i've seen this happen alot you are still dealing with people. And anyways people have flaws they usually won't go above and beyond if they are being insulted or disrespected. but try that please and bring them receipts proof etc...something to back up your story. it will help
