Circuit City Warrenty-TOTAL JOKE!!!!!

I purchased a Toshiba laptop computer in 1997. I purchased an "extended warrenty" to ensure repair coverage on the computer once the initial warrenty ran out. Not until recently have I ever needed to make use of my warrenty. However, now that I have, I've learned what a BIG JOKE it truely is.

First, you have to contact "Computer Support Plus" and go through hours upon hours of troubleshooting. This is even if you get the chance to talk to someone. Believe me, if you have to call them, plan on holding from 10 mins to 45 mins before getting a voice on the other end. I spent a few days on the phone back and forth troubleshooting. One day I was either on HOLD or troubleshooting my computer from 12:00p.m. until 10:00p.m. that night. 8 HOURS!!!!!!

Finally they came to the conclusion that my computer needed a new hard drive. So I sent the computer in to be fixed, along with the RESTORE CD and BACKUP CD. The Technicians were SUPPOSED to restore the computer before sending it back to me. Do you think they did. Of course not!!! It came back in DOS MODE. Yeah, like everyone knows DOS mode. Definitely not me. So once again, I was on the phone getting help on how to get my computer up and working again. After again, several hours of being on the phone HOLDING.....etc.....The computer support tech decides that my RESTORE CD must be defective since it is not restoring my computer properly.

Very frustrated I get off the phone and decide to run the RESTORE CD on my own. This time it works! The only problem is.......now I cannot connect to the internet. So I call AGAIN to get help with this dumb computer and after many many hours of HOLDING and troubleshooting, the tech support decides that my Modem needs to be replaced. DUH.... maybe if they would have done all the proper checks in the first place before sending it back, then they could have caught this.

So I send in the computer to have the modem fixed. Guess what...... after they had the computer for "2 WEEKS" I get it back along with a note saying that nothing has been fixed on my computer... because they think it is working perfectly. At this point I want to scream. And by now, I really really hate Circuit City.

Okay, so I call a tech support person, and once again I HOLD and HOLD and HOLD and finally get someone on the phone. Of course each time I call I get someone new. Sometimes the person I am talking to will just put me on hold and NEVER COME BACK. So I have to hang up and call back and HOLD some more. The whole process is REDICULOUS!!!

Okay, so I again talk to someone and they are trying to figure out why I cant get it to go online, but the technicians can. The guy helping me asks me to take out my modem. Just at that point I notice that the little button that is used to eject the modem is GONE!!! So the technicians broke off that button, never said anything, and didnt replace it. So it is now without a button there. They still havent replaced it. I told the support guy about it and he made a report but still hasnt followed up on it.

Just when we were about to send in the computer again for the broken modem, we decide to run another RESTORE. After the restore, my computer connects to the internet. But now that I can go online, it still doesnt work the same. I get errors constantly. But I would rather deal with errors then go through any more headaches with that thing that Circuit City calls a WARRENTY.

I hope anyone who is looking to buy ANYTHING from Circuit City reads this and hears how unprofessional and BOGUS their warrenty's are. I can tell you I will NEVER purchase another thing from CIRCUIT CITY. And if you dont want headaches, and tears of frustration..........you wont either!!!!!!!!
