I went to our local Circuit City to purchase "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" on dvd yesterday at, according to the reciept 17:17, and inquired about the "free lithograph" that they had been advertising on television for the past couple of days. And when I asked the sales clerk about it, they said that were "out of them". 7 Hours and 17 min after they opened and they "were out"? Wouldn't you think that a huge corporation like Circuit City would make sure that their stores had enough items for at least the first day an item goes on sale? No where in their tv ads did it mention "Limited suplies". I didn't inquire to the manager about this, because I had worked in sales in the past, but we had always enough items on hand for at least the first day of the sale. I look forward to ANY and ALL responses. Especialy from the employes in IL and PA. So bring them on.

I work for Circuit City Customer Support (1-800-THE-CITY) and we are corporate and we get a lot of calls complaining about such things.
First of all, it is a special, it is first come first serve. There is limited quantities for a reason. They want you to rush to the store and buy it..and while doing that, look around and buy something else.
Second of all, how did you expect us to know how many people we were going to get buying that movie. There is no way we could have known that..therefore, we couldn't have possibly made sure we had enough in stock.
Thirdly, it wasn't Circuit City that made the lithogram and offered it, it was the manufacturer. They sent us the ammount they wanted to send us. And unfortuantly, with the popularity of Harry Potter (god knows why), they went quickly.
Finally, it's a lithogram. Worth nothing now and worth nothing 10 years from now. I'm sure if you are that concerned, someone will be selling it on ebay for 2 cents in the near future.

Free items can go by real fast

When we had to sell an item that came with a free item, we were sold out in 2 hours. We had over 200 copies (more than adequate) sell out in 2 hours.
You expect to walk in the door 7 hours after a movie goes on sale with a "perk" and expect it to be on the floor or the store to have any left?

Clearly stated in circular.........

There is no Circuit City within 100 miles of where I live, so I went online to Circuit City and looked at their circular. It is clearly stated "While Supplies Last".
In most TV commerials, for any product, the "small print" is usually just a blur, or flashed so fast you can't read it anyway. So for most major retailers I go to the web and check out the circulars for the disclaimers.

Wow what great customer service

Wow the reply from the employee calling someone a whiner when they inquired about a product. Guess that shows the type of employee Circut City hires and proves the old saying that customer service is no longer provided by most companys. Sounds to me like this employee is someone who hates their job and doesn't want to be bothered by a customer asking questions. I guess if that is the attitude of the empolyees at Cicurt City I will spend my money somewhere else, if we all do that then employees like this will only have to complain about being out of a job becuase the customer wanted service.

I'm an employed with Circuit City. If you are a frequent shopper, you should be able to decipher popular products. I hate it when a customer comes in after lunch, and expect a "free" item to still be available. It should be common sense that Harry Potter is a very popular. People waited outside to purchase this movie. And during the lunch hour it was really busy. Why should we cater to late comers? If you really wanted the lithograph, you should've gotten your lazy behind out of bed and came to the store when we opened. And if you read the ad as well as paid attention the the television advertisement you would have noticed that it stated limited supplies. while supplies last. I hate whiners. Get a life. Like the wise man once told me, if you snooze you lose!!!

What is with the bring them on comment? Its usually not a good idea to sound abrasive in posts garnering sympothy. Anyway, I was up front doing a credit app yesterday and saw like 50 of those things and I'm from PA. For what its worth its just a really crappy drawing of the characters. Trust me, you're not missing anything.
