I had been a customer of Citizens bank of Pittsburgh, PA since 1998, but closed my account with them when they charged me over $180 for a $15 check. I had money in my bank account because I had deposited a refund check from Mutual of Omaha, which is a reputable company.

In other words, the check was a good check, but Citizens placed a hold on their refund check to me which by the way was only $26, but they felt it was necessary to place a hold on the check to clear for if the $26 check had bounced I guess it would have put them out of business.

Since I am paid at the end of the month (that is, once a month) I don't check my bank account everyday, so they charged me $39 for the $15 check that came in and then another $39, and then another $35 service fee for what I do not know, and then another $39 overdraft fee.

When I called they told me they charge an overdraft fee for every 7 days the account is overdrawn. After my mortgage payment cleared that month I closed my account with Citizens right away after being a ten year customer all they could do was refund one $39 amount. I won't even go into the time when my account was charged $39 for being 78 CENTS overdrawn.

I now bank with a much better bank that automatically makes $200 available to me whenever I make a deposit. By the way, the Federal Reserve will be investigating banks and credit card companies for underhanded tricks such as the above.
