A charge that I never authorised appeared on my credit card. I tried to contact the company but they have no published contact address or phone number. I contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute for the charge. The credit card company asked that I contact classmates directly and try to resolve. They gave me Classmates phone number. Contacted classmates. Spoke to staffer Danielle and supervisor Laurie who confirmed there was no billable account in my name. They had no explanantion for how they got my credit card info. They say that they cannot reverse a charge. Only their accounting department can do that and only on receipt of a dispute. I asked Danielle if they were recording the conversation and she said she was not. I was and told her so. When Laurie came on the phone she said she was taping and I reiterated that I was. I provided all this info to my credit card company and, if needed, depending on the outcome, will also speak directly to Classmates' local District Attorney's office.

Always check credit card statements

AUTHOR: Clas - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, July 20, 2008

I, too, discovered that I have been automatically renewed for another year on Classmates. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I had no notification that my subscription was up for renewal and I was intending to cancel it. If I had not been checking my credit card statement I would never have known.

From what I have been reading so far on various sites it is next to impossible to contact Classmates. I did send an email but from what I have read will most likely not receive a response other than the generic "will get back to you". I would, of course, like to have this amount deducted from my card but if not, at the least, be able to unsubscribe. Does anyone have at least a phone number to call or has anyone been able to contact a real person? Judging by the number of complaints I have seen, I am amazed that this group is still in business.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
