  I want to warn everyone about CLEAR internet and phone providers!!  They were formally known as CLEARWIRE, and many still know them this way.

  In April 2010 I contracted with them for phone and internet service.  Within one week my phone service was not working regularly.  The phone runs through a small modem that is connected to my computer, and that modem would go out intermittantly.  One day the modem would work, three days it wouldn't.  Same thing for weeks.  I would call technical support and they would troubleshoot for an hour or so until they got the modem running.  A day or so later the same thing would happen.  This has gone on since that time.

In addition to the modem going out, when it was working we would receive calls and the people calling could not hear us. In October of 2010, they finally agreed to try replacing the modem and sent me a new one.  The new box has done the same thing.  I have contacted them several times asking to be reimbursed for all the months I have gone without phone service, only to be told they will only credit me back 30 days. The past 2 months the modem now blinks, as if the phone is in use, and we can't recieve calls because it is registering use even though there is none.

  I know many people wouldn't have tolerated it this long.  I need to explain that when I got their service I had just moved across state to a city where I knew nobody.  I am disabled and have a very hard time getting out of the home.  My 2 children and I rely on our phone for contact with our family that lives across state, and for transportation, etc.  This has deeply burdened us, leaving us living in a strange place with no way to contact anyone unless we get to a pay phone and find someone to accept collect calls from us.

  I also have been searching for employment since our move, it is almost impossible when you don't have a phone for employer's to contact you at.

  Now that I know how terrible the service is, the equipment is junk, and they control the speed of my internet by my usage, I want out of my contract.  Of course, they won't let me, nor will they credit me for the 9 months I have gone without phone service.  They "claim" I have had phone and that they can see usage on my account, but what they see is the calls I receive from people who hang up after the find out they are unable to hear anything we are saying.  The duration of all of my calls are under 2 minutes... nobody talks to their family members across state for that short of time!!! 

  If there is anyone who can help me.... please let me know.  My income is extremely limited and I cannot afford to find sevice through the television company, or the other high priced companies, while stuck paying CLEAR for their service.  I am literally at the end of my rope!!

Go to their website, clear.com make sure you have your modem pointed near the closest tower.  I have had their internet service since December 2010 and I haven't had any problems.  You may consider downgrading your service to just internet.  You could use Skype to communicate with people, or get a cheap landline plan.  You can also chat online with a representative, hopefully they could assist you with making the phone work.  If not, see if they will credit your bill, and let you downgrade to just internet service.  I hope that helps.
