I have read the letters describing the problems that consumers experienced with J. D. Marvel Company concerning a hearing aid that was ordered, paid for but never received.
Lo and behold, this Sunday, I opened up my paper and found the identical ad run previously by J.D. Marvel now being run by Clear Point Direct from none other than Champlain, NY., the home of the ripoff artists from J. D. Marvel.
Can they be the same jokers trying to steal more money? How can newspapers accept ads from fraudulant companies without running some sort of check. The question is now...Is J.D. Marvel back in business under a
different name??

That is a good question, Anthony!
If I were a newspaper I would consider ANY advertising from Champlain New York to be potentially from a Canadian cross-border scam.
There are reasons for a legitimate entity to have a United States office, I once worked for a U.S. company that maintained an office in Fort Erie, Ontario, but that was for mailing and taxation purposes.
Having said that, it is still amazing to see how many Rip Off Reports are generated about 'Scamplain,' a rather small border town that just happens to be very convenient to Montreal via the Autoroute. Thus it has become 'home' to many questionable operations. Elliot Spitzer (Attorney General of New York) needs to take note and clean this place up.
