I am a college student and have twice received calls from Clout: once while a senior in highschool and once as a freshman in college. Clout offers some type of student credit card application and after holding you on the line for close to a half-hour gathering information, they ask for you social security number. It is not my policy to give my SS# over the phone to anyone besides my bank. I don't understand why they needed my SS# to send me an info package. The telemarketer acted exasperated both times and asked multiple times (even after i denied) for my SS#. After the first of such calls, my father emailed the company telling them that this was poor business practice. I guess the policies haven't changed.

Clout is still a young company. It's steadily growing and learning as time progresses.

Clout is still a young company. It's steadily growing and learning as time progresses. Every company makes its mistakes in the beginning years.

I will agree that Clout needs to work on how it telemarketers it's account. We don't try to mislead anyone with regards to the product. The information requested comes from the consumer. If you give us wrong information then that's your fault. We ask for the information to VALIDATE that it is the person we want to speak to. It's so easy to get credit card information and anyone from friends to family members can get this information easily.

From the sound of it your account is past due and you have not made any payments. That's why you recieved calls. If you made your payment as you should you wouldn't be in collections. While in collections we do have payment programs to help clients get caught back up. It's up to you to take advantage of them. We are her to help you, not hinder you. We don't want you in collections anymore than I am sure you want to be there. So why not pay your bills on time???

CLOUT IS LEGIT BUT THEY GO ABOUT IT ALL WRONG

True clout does come off like scam artists, asking for your social security number and all types of information but they are legit. I recieved my credit card within 2 weeks and later got my limit expanded in the thousands. Clout is a good honest company....they just need a better way of getting consumers.

Not quite the whole truth!!!

Ok if someone calls you about having a bill due, and you don't know who they are, chances are that someone has committed fraud against you. Not Clout Visa. It is true that you are telemarketed to receive the card. A collections call means you do owe a bill. The reason they want your SSN# is to verify that it is you. Not to defraud you. The bank will NOT contact you about your CREDIT CARDS. That is just common sense.
there is a fraud #. If you have problems with clout call them. 1-800-759-5746 or 1-800-918-3457. And be nice to these people they are just trying to help.

Ridiculous

The "clout visa" company has called me personally twice in the last two days. I am a freshman at college and my roommate has also received a message from them, telling her that it was extremely important that she call them back. When they called me the woman who was talking to me,"Dot," was insitant that I had over due payments and that I needed to pay or else my credit would be considered bad. She insisted that I had a clout visa even though I do not and I made that clear to her but she was pretty sure that I had one.

So right away I knew it was a scam. She insisted that I sign up for these programs that would help me pay my late fees and she asked me for my credit card number a couple of times. She kept me on the line for about 20 minutes talking about nothing mostly because I was getting frustrated at the whole situation. At firs it is very confusing because you have no idea what this person is talking about.

They sort of bombard you with information about how you have all these late fees and charges that you NEED to make or else. And I figured that if I really had overdue payments to make, the bank would have contacted me. I hope that this will help in any way to shut them down if possible or to warn other people. It is sort of obvious though. I mean the woman didnt give up once even though I told her that I did not own a clout visa card. Sad, Sad, Sad.
