I have been a member of Club tan of oregon for years. I also have noticed the customer service has gone down and the high pressure sales has gone up. I went tanning this weekend and the line to tan was so long. I came home upset and went to look at their site www.clubtanoregon.com and saw the rip off report and the 07 rip off report.
Next, I went to the BBB wow what a eye opener. I noticed the response from the owner and he did not mention the BBB complaint record. It appears they dont even answer them. I will not sign up for another package with them. I dont think club tan is good company and I hope Club Tan gets better. I use to really like them. I also do have a hard time getting an apt. for services and am very dissapointed.

#3 Consumer Suggestion
You are both wrong

Let me enlighten you both of why your argument is a moot point. You both have used the BBB as a catalist for your banter. However, allow me the privilege of telling you how the BBB actually works and why NIETHER of you should use that as a basis for either business advertising or a business reliability rating.
First off, I personally have a problem with the BBB's A-F rating system and according to BBB Roundup: It is demonstratively biased, based on heresay, weighted in favor of "dues paying members" and offers no recourse when the BBB makes a mistake. It is quite obvious that the BBB does not now, nor ever will have, the resources to fully investigate the 4million businesses it has in it's database much less grade them with any sense of accuracy. In short, it's an impossibly difficult job and to think otherwise is a mistake that the BBB should acknowledge so they can get back to the whole reason for their existence.....protecting the consumer from bad businesses. Theres an old saying "who will watch the watchers" and it applies here as the BBB has set themselves up to be above the law. The average consumer most ignorantly relies on the BBB and what they hear from them. If your tanning business carries and F rating, chances are you are not a member. The biggest mistake you can make is to advertise falsely regarding being in the good graces of the BBB because their credibility is shrinking fast and is already dead in some business circles. It would behoove you to not only advise your customers that you do not belong to the BBB but your F rating is a result of NOT being a dues paying member. To the detractor: the only reason you looked up the tanning business with the BBB was to call them out. That is ok to do but get a more reliable resource for your information. True, the tanning business made this easy for you and you took pride in your degredation of his business. However, the more you research the BBB, the more you might want to recant your opinion of the tanning business, whether it was true or not. Your own lack of information caused you to lose credibility with me. The tanning guy lost his credibility for stupidly advertising the way he did. So take the gloves off and shake hands. Be good people and be smart people.
Business is nothing more than business itself. The BBB is run in the way of the mafia, offering business protection for a fee. The BBB has relationships with District Attorneys, Attorney Generals, the FTC, Consumer groups and, most importantly, the media. Ethically, the BBB should not take membership fees from the same businesses it grades. Afterall, they are listed as a 501(c)(3) business which means "non-profit or charitable". They carry what is called an "unconditional exemption" for taxes and according to their 990 IRS form, which is public information, they are required to report all income, assets, board of directors for the progarms that the "dues" collected are supposed to support. I would imagine if you found the IRS report for your local branch like I did, it may suprise you and probably even make you mad because non of the above appears to be true. They are, for the most part, untouchable unless a government investigation of the BBB is conducted. I hope they do because it would cause such a shakeup of public trust, it would dismantle the very fiber of our trust and belief in the Better Business Bureau and expose them for who they really are, corporate criminals.

You are a liar

You are such a liar. I just checked BBB and your rating is still an "F."
http://www.bbb.org/oregon/business-reviews/tanning-salons/club-tan-centers-of-oregon-in-beaverton-or-37002011.
Moreover, I have spoken directly with top management to try and settle a dispute, and all I got was hot air blown in my face. "I'm so sorry this has happened, give me some time to try and figure this out." After waiting, I call back and keep getting the same response. You say to come in and keep an open line of communication, and to give you guys a second try - you've got to be kidding.
Your company is one of the worst I've ever seen, and it would be in everyone's best interest if Club Tan Centers of Oregon was shut down for good.
Stop lying to your customers.

Club Tan Now Has an A- Rating with BBB!

We were very surprised to read "Jennys." comments about Club Tan Oregon.
The truth is that Club Tan Centers of Oregon now has an A- Rating with the BBB, and we invite anyone to go to the BBB website and confirm this information. We are very proud of our rating, and we have done a number of things in recent months to further improve our customer service and to increase the number of appointments available in all three of our laser medical spa locations.
Since "Jennys." posted this report, we have acquired additional spa equipment, hired additional estheticians, expanded our appointment books to allow more clients to be seen and treated faster, and we have even started doing laser spa treatments at a third location.
On the tanning side, using our four convenient locations, including three in Hillsboro, we try help our clients avoid the problems of long lines and long waits by giving them the option of calling ahead to reserve a bed and/or place their name on the waiting list before they come in, so that a specific bed may be waiting for them when they come in.
These are just some of the steps we have taken as part of our continuing effort to provide the finest customer service experience to all of our clients, and we will continue doing whatever it takes to keep our clients happy.
It is disconcerting to find unhappy clients resorting to a public forum to voice their dissatisfaction, when we strive to make customer communication as convenient and readily available as possible in each of our stores. We find addressing our clients' concerns much more effective in a more personal and immediate fashion through the use of comment cards, which are available in each individual tanning room and in the lobbies of the stores, as well as customer service representation through which clients may access direct contact with the appropriate personnel.
We invite Jennys. and any other Club Tan client who has had a bad experience to come back in and give us another try. Perhaps more importantly, we invite all clients to personally contact us with any concerns they may have so that we may address them as soon as possible. We will do whatever we possibly can to make sure you aren't disappointed!
