While my situation was in 2002 I am still going to report this because I feel it is very unjust. My husband had paid on the CNA policy for years that would pay off our home mortgage in the event he died in a car incident. While driving home from work on Interstate 35 from Round Rock, Texas, he had a flat left front tire. While it was determined to be a "natural" death, he had a brain hemorrhage. The brain hemorrhage did not cause a flat tire. I feel confident his brain was pushed toward the front of his cranium when this flat occurred and causing the hemorrhage.
They sent me a letter stating that benefits are not pauable for a loss due to sicknes or disease, except infections, which occur through an accidental cut or wound. They noted that the death was due to an intracerebral hemorrage due to a natural cause and not due to a bodily injury due to the accident. CNA was wrong not to have paid for this. I definitely feel I was RIPPED OFF!! As I mentioned earlier, a hemorrhage would not cause the flat tire-----the flat tire going at a high speed on the highway could cause the hemorrhage!

"the flat tire going at a high speed on the highway could cause the hemorrhage! "
How would this happen? I've had numerous flat tires on the highway and have yet to have my brain pushed forward in my cranium. I've also pulled over to help numerous people fix flats on the highway and none seemed to have suffered brain damage from the event.
If you had a flat at high speed, lost control and ran into a solid object, I could see that. But, a flat by itself is at the most going to result in a minor bumpy feeling until the car stops.
I'm really sorry that you didn't collect on your husband's policy, but unless the car impacted something after the flat tire, there's not a lot to hang a claim on.
