I had a chain of problems with this company.
First: I scheduled a "diaper workshop", where they were supposed to show me all about different methods of cloth diapering and how to use them. I couldn't find the house, as it wasn't labeled, tried to call the prepaid "company" cell phone and it went right to voicemail, and nobody called back. After knocking on the wrong door, I finally found the house, and it turned out to be one girl running the company from her basement. This wouldn't have bothered me if it wasn't tiny and cluttered, and her young daughter wasn't distracting her.
There was barely room for my son and I to sit, and for me to change his diaper. (Having a child around wouldn't bother me, but in this case this woman was trying to do business and rushed through everything as though she was just trying to get me out of there.)
She quickly showed me on a doll the three different types of diapers she carried, telling me that for his age, regular tri-folds and covers wouldn't work and that I should use the Fuzzibunz, a much more expensive investment. The ad that I saw made it seem like the "workshop" would have a little more substance and be more professional. (For the record, I had no problem with the tri-folds as daytime diapers for my son.) I purchased the trial and prepaid for two weeks, and was on my way.
The website warns that the diapers included in the trial would be gently used, and may contain some stains. That was kind of an understatement. They were kind of gross and more stained up than I had imagined from what I had read. They were almost all very obviously girl's colors (I have a son.) and it seemed like they were just a collection of her daughter's old diapers. A couple of the diapers were a size too big for my son, and we couldn't use them.
During the time that I did the trial, it was very difficult to get a hold of Casey, and she rarely returned calls, later claiming in e-mails that she never received calls, or left voice mails that mysteriously disappeared before i could hear them.
On the day that my trial expired and the diapers were supposed to be picked up (She told me a pickup time of 3PM, and the delivery person came at around noon as witnessed by my neighbor.) I was in class and missed them. I called her three times in two days, and when she finally got back to me towards the end of the week, she told me I had to pay for that week, and that her delivery person would pick them up the upcoming Saturday at around eleven, as another client was waiting to use them. I put them out the night before, as my fiance and I were going away for the weekend. Nobody showed. I had my neighbor bring them in for me so that they didn't get stolen or anything, and called the following Monday evening.
More difficulty reaching Casey...When I finally did, through e-mail, she gave me attitude and said the delivery person "wasn't able to make it" on the scheduled day, and came by on Monday morning and nobody was at my house. She told me I would have to pay $20 to have them make a special trip out to come and get them. Wanting to just cut my losses and discontinue business with her, I agreed to make the half hour drive back to her house to drop them off. If I remember correctly, I had to drop them off on the doorstep because nobody was there when I had said I would be coming.
Over a month after I purchased the trial, I had just paid bills and sat down to look at my bank statement, realizing that both checks that I had written to CNY Cloth Diaper Express had never been deposited, and that I had overlooked that when I recently checked my balance. Sure enough, the next morning she called and literally yelled at me while I was trying to feed my son, because the second check had bounced and she had to pay a bank fee and an overdraft fee because she had overdrawn her account as a result. She tried to deposit both at the same time, and the second one bounced after the first one cleared, because i was a little bit short in my account. She handled the situation incredibly unprofessionally.
I am normally very good with my checking account, and usually when a business takes a check it is deposited shortly afterward. She demanded, very rudely, that I give her the money for the returned check fee and the overdraft fee. (This is supposed to be a business...She should know how do deal with such mishaps from good clients.) It figured out to be more than double the cost of the trial.
I had to delve into my savings and my fiance had to drive a half hour away to drop off cash to her a couple of days later. She didn't say a word to him. She had her husband take the money from him.
Other people that had experiences with her warned me not to do business with this company, but being that it is the only service that delivers to my area in CNY, I thought it couldn't hurt to try. Well it hurt my bank account and caused unnecessary stress and irritation for my fiance and I. Later, when I was shopping for diapers online, I found that the products at CNY Cloth Diaper Express are overpriced, and there is very little selection. I have a feeling this woman will not be in business much longer if she keeps treating her clients this way.
