Okay let's start from the beinging. I hadn't been to the dentist in years so i knew to expect lots of problem. I recently got new insurance also and wasn't sure how it worked at all. Went to coast dental and got established i guess you could say, and knew to expect a follow up appointment to start treatment.
I got a call from the receptionist one afternoon asking me to come in and get the root canal i need done. My response sure just let me know how much is going to be out of pocket because i'm short on cash right so if this isn't something i can afford i'd have to wait. She told me my insurance covers up to $1,200 a year and this visit would only cost about $800, it would be covered by the insurance. Me completley releived that i'm able to get this fixed sure no problem.
So i came in as planned they statred what they had to do, the root canal and one other filling. Half way through the assistant comes to tell me and says okay so you'll owe $301 for todays visit. Wow was i shocked. Numb upset trying to explain to this women the receptionist assured be there would be not a dollar out of pocket.
Her reply to that was then we won't be able to finish and we'll have to let you go. Now at this point i'm hysterical, i have to open front teeth, no money to pay for this, feeling completely victimized. She keep saying things like don't you have a credit card you can put it on or you're husband, and just kept naming off places to try to get the money.
I finally found a someone to loan me the money. Thank the lord. If not that women would have sent me out of that office with unfinished dental work.
Now it that unethical? I'm only 19, young but not stupid.

Her reply to that was then we won't be able to finish and we'll have to let you go. Now at this point i'm hysterical, i have two open front teeth, no money to pay for this, feeling completely victimized.
She keep saying things like don't you have a credit card you can put it on or you're husband, and just kept naming off places to try to get the money.
I finally found a someone to loan me the money. Thank the lord. If not that women would have sent me out of that office with unfinished dental work.
Not to mention i was there for three and a half hours and the dentist only did 30 mins of work.
Now is that unethical? I'm only 19, young, But not stupid.
