I went into the Coggin Nissan Dealership back in March.. I was sent a letter in the mail stating that I was prequalified for a vehicle.. So... I went to the dealership... I spoke to a salesman for about an hour, I told him what i wanted.. We found a 2004 Xterra for a good price.. My credit was ran.. the salesman came back, he told me after my trade in he could get me that car for $350.00 a month for 42 months.. i thought that was pretty reasonable, so I said ok. The salesman came back with his finance manager.... the manager told me that because of my credit, the car would be more a month... he said it would be $453.00 a month for 48 months.. I told him I could not afford that extra car payment, because I had a baby on the way.... So the manager left for a couple minutes... He came back to tell me I had to put a down payment down on top of my trade in. then the monthly payment would only be $425.00 for 48 months.. I then told the salesman that is out of my budget.. the finance manager replied with " if you can't afford a $425.00 a month payment, how can you afford to raise a child".. yeah i was pretty fired up.. So I stood up and started to leave. the manager told me if i could not afford the down payment then he could help me out... I asked him how... he said he would pay the down payment if I came to his house to wash his car every week... At this point I was going to do one of 2 things... Punch him in his mouth or leave.... So I walked out... the manager stuck his head out the door, he said " i don't have to sell you a car". I just kept walking... I went home, called nissan, they said they would get back with me... still no reply... I can tell you I will never go to a coggin dealership or refer any business ever again.... I believe the finance manager's name is Joe

Sounds like a generic sales letter to me

Lots of dealerships send out these kind of letters to generate your interest in buying a new or used car. They probably mailed out thousands or tens of thousands of these things to old clients or used a list purchased from marketing folks to mail from.
Not to say rude treatment is an excuse to browbeat you into buying something that you didn't want though.
Did the letter give you a specific interest rate or "the qualifed buyers" rate. Qualified buyers generally means that you have an outstanding or excellent credit rating which means you could get just about anything you wanted for a low rate.
Otherwise you fall into the other category. Sounds like you fell into this category.
Why wait so long to write in about this?? Did they send you the letter earlier this year and you finally went in?? What could have changed your credit in the meantime??
Whenever you are really ready to buy a new or used car you should check with your bank or credit union. Banks or credit unions (mostly credit unions) have programs that you can go to them and ask for a loan for a new or used car. Then based on that info they can cut you a check for a real pre-approved loan from them. You can then go to the dealerships they work with and buy anything up to the amount of the check. Sometimes this gives you a better option since then the dealership doesn't need to worry about running credit checks or having you finance the car thru them.
Just a thought to help you out. Generally you should stay away from Coggin though. They have had their share of BBB complaints as well as other consumer issues as well.
Not saying they are bad folks. Just check into sites like this before buying anything from them.

If I was you I would call the local better business office and file a complaint against the dealership & the person who said the insulting things to you. I would than find out who the owner, general mngr & the sales mngr and I would send a letter detailing your experience. You came to them due to their letter to you, you did not go there to have them tell you you can't afford your child just because the payment suddenly went another 100 higher than what they originally told you. I would also check the state website to see if there are other complaints about them or who else you can write to.
I don't know what good the letters will do but it will make you feel better..
Congrats on the baby.......
