On Friday evening, March 24,2000, I met with a salesperson at Coliseum Ford in Portland, Oregon. After searching the lot for the vehicle I wanted, the salesperson determined that there was no such vehicle available on the lot. She then told another salesperson (the 4th one I had been in contact with there) that there was no vehicle available to meet what I wanted. This vehicle was a Ford Ranger. I was never given a list of options to choose from, but had at one point, to at least one of these salespersons, stated that I wanted a small engine, and an automatic.

This final salesperson said he was sure there was a car that would fit my criteria in the lot. I told him that we (the previous salesperson, my 3rd contact) had searched the lot completely. He then came back with a vehicle that was priced over what I wanted to pay. I guess many of you are familiar with the rest, the 'we can deal' talk, the pressure not to leave. Even an attempt to stop me from going to my current vehicle.

Anyway, after 4-1/2 hours, and four salespeople later, this guy got me to sign the paperwork. I had stressed to him several times the need to think about it & that I was very tired. I hadn't even eaten that evening. Looking back, all I can say to myself, is why didn't you leave, why did I let good manners and politeness make me stay? Why didn't I just sneak out when they weren't looking? I guess I really wanted a vehicle, & I was much too tired to be thinking clearly. I said I w/pick it up the next day. They volunteered to follow me home. I was even to tired to drive the vehicle home - the salesman did.

I found out that the vehicle was a 6-cylinder (I wanted 4), it had a trailer hitch & big tires & fancy wheels that I neither needed or wanted. Then too, it appears I was charged too much for this vehicle.

Please help me get my money back. I left a $2,000 check as a down payment. The vehicle was returned by me on Sunday, March 26th. They still have the vehicle & the check has not been returned. They were to hold the check until tomorrow, Wed. March 29.
