When my husband was about 16 he received some movies from Columbia house he had sent them back immediately because he did not order them and did not want the service they were offering. Five years later we are now receiving daily harassing debt collectors for this service when we don't owe them anything, not only at the time were they trying to sell a minor something when on their website it says your have to be 18 years old or older but now they want money for a service we never had, the company has no Phone number to reach them at and the only ways of contact they offer is a e mail address and a physical adress i have tried to use both but i haven't heard a word from either, nor have they ever tried to send us a bill in the mail for the so called service just debt collectors calling on their behalf. how do i make this stop?

The End of the Statute of Limitations to Collect Debt SHOULD be TWO YEARS in this case BUT

If you respond to their threatening letters or acknowledge in ANY way that you owe the debt, you will probably have to pay it, depending on the debt collection laws of your state.
These must be some bottom feeders trying to collect on charge-off debts.
So what I did when some scum got on to me like this:
UNLISTED and UNPUBLISHED PHONE NUMBER works wonders
And SCREEN YOUR CALLS WITH AN ANSWERING MACHINE.
THEIR THREATENING LETTERS MAKE GREAT STARTER KINDLING FOR YOUR BAR B QUE PIT OR SMOKER. DON'T PUT THE MEAT IN UNTIL THE COALS OR WOOD IGNITE.
It is very quiet at my house and I pay the bills I owe legitimately and I don't pay the ones I do NOT owe.
