These people call you at night and harrass you because they want you to pay them but you have never signed up for it. They intimidate you, they routinely debit your bank account even after you have told them they are not to debit your bank account.

Community Readers threatens to give your account to their attorney if you do not pay. They set up additional accounts that you do not want. I asked them to play back the tape and it sounds like me but knowing I have never subscribed to their magazines I know it was somehow given to them and they made up their own personal tape. They asked questions that you would respond to and I feel that they put this on tape to their advantage.

I have about 10 different magazines that are trying to make me pay. They often change their names but have the same address. I am on the do not call list but they keep calling. I honestly do not know how they obtained my credit card number or bank account number.

Finally, I told my husband that he had to start taking the calls, they were so upsetting to me. They argue with you and say you owe them anywhere from $600 to $1200. Some we have "paid off" and they continue to say we owe them. In the beginning they would call several months after I received notice to pay them asking to update my information. Because I didn't know whether they were the magazine that I signed up with or not, I would update my information and soon found out that I had opened another account.

Not too long ago I finally realized what was happening and when they would want to record me, I would answer most of their questions but wouldn't give them credit card numbers or bank numbers and said at the end of our recording that "this is not a new order" and they would hang up.

Something should be done about these magazine companies - I hope some attorney would take on a class action suit.
