I took my 2008 Infiniti G35x to this dealer service department on March 1, 2014. I have been using this service department for a few years and have been suspicious in the past whwen I questioned whether they changed a drive belt that I paid to have done.  The service advisor was always very pleasant as was the staff, but this is all a large DECEPTION.

My car was taken there for a routine oil change and tire rotation. I had requested no other services and had no other complaints. As has happened in the past, the service advisor called me after about 2 hours that there were "other things that needed attention", particularly my right headlight high beam was out and that the bulb would cost $310 with tax to replace. I was told the bumber needed to be removed to replace the headlight. I asked the advisor well if you had to replace the high beam might as well replace the low beam as well since the labor would be the same. He AGREED.

I DID NOT agree to this service and I did internet research regarding this. It turns out that my vehicle ONLY HAS ONE HID HEADLIGHT that does both high and low beam. An electronic solenoid controls the high beam. In addition, a failed high beam has nothing to do with the headlight bulb.
In this particular vehicle, there are 4 fuses in the IPDM, the intelligent power distribution module, which is under the hood. Two fuses control right and left low beam and two more control the right and left high beam. I did more investigation and found a blown fuse in the right high beam space in the IPDM. The fuses were $4 for a pack of 5. I replaced the fuse and lo and behold, the high beam worked.  This dealer wanted $310 for a new bulb,  and to remove my front bumper and all it was was a $4 fuse.

I can only surmise that they would have replaced the fuse for $310.

If this is not the epitome of deception I don't know what is. One thing a customer expects from his dealer and particularly service center is honesty and trust. This dealer violated BOTH of these attributes.
