I came to louisana about a month after the hurricane struck. I had never seen such devestation in my life. I still to this day can not believe what the people had to go through. My adventure started in mississippi working for a company installing fema trailors.
That went well for about two weeks when they shut the company down and moved in a new company. It has been a while so i dont remember the companys name but in the end tey ended up not paying me and it only totaled about $800.00 so i was not to ovwerwhelmed. When that company did not pay i was stuck with no work and i new there was alot to be done so i continued to look.
At the sme time a father of my friend was trying to promote his buisness in la so we met up and went looking for work in slidell we ended up meeting Rodney Cameron and we took over his operation on building decks and handicap ramps for the trailors...
My friends dad his name is Jhon he handeled the books and called a bunch of friends from michigan (thats where im from) to come help work... Everything ran very smooth we had yard set up where we kept inventory on all wood and we also were building about 50 decks and handicap ramps per week. We were on call at all times i would work 12 to 15 hour days and be on my way back to the yard at 8 or 9 and i would recive a call saying that they had a handicap person with the trailor all set up except for the ramp...
I would not wait till the next day like everyone else i would go right then set up lights and get that person in there home. Well things ran like that for a couple of months and we would getr paid every two weeks. Jhon would get the fema work orders disperse them to the guys and i would work and make sure everything was being done correctly.
At some point cpc decided to start paying us a week or two late and the guys would get restless it was hard enough staying in tents as is. Jhon eventually got sick of not being paid on time and having enough money to operate so he went back to michigan... I took over all operations and cpc new i was they were givng me workorders every day. To make a long story short myself and about ten other men woked around the clock for three weeks and were never paid a dollar... I tried everything talking, calling, meetings...
They kept telling me they were going to pay so we keot waiting in the meen timew spending more money to live and stay in slidell. Randy is Rodneys brother and i was eventually after being lied to times able to meet and his explenation was that we were over payed and that i was not supposed to have been getting these work orders..
The bootom line is they new what they were doing and the was performed but never payed for they know it and i know it.... I still have all the original fema work orders and i currently have a law suit against cpc but have found myself overwhelmed with dumping money i dont have into something that cpc has made a long drawn out process in the court system. At this point i dont even care about the money i just dont want anyone to have to go through what i did with cpc.

If you were present in slidell Then you would have known that we received work orders in the early A.m. and the men contracted to build these decks would work everyday as late as possible to get the work orders done. Obviously you were not aware of our operations. Just to clarify I didn't wait after Randy finally acted like a man and met me. I waited for weeks prior to that being told other excuses to why I wasn't being paid. You see, they waited until i had completed a bunch of work before they decided not to pay.
Apparently you don't under stand the concept. We had between 10 - 16 men down there, two man crews. So lets do a little simple Math.... 5 crews at 3 decks per day equals 15 decks per day. times that by seven and you get 105 decks. Now if you through in 10 to 15 handicap ramps that we were building, which you'd be lucky to build two a day. That would bring your total number to somewhere around 50 decks and or ramps. Also i don't know where your getting 20 pages of plans for a 4'x 4' deck. My little sister could build those with no plans.... Probably just another scam you guys were pulling off to charge the Government more money. SO, your guarantees that we never built 50 in a week is like pissing in the wind. Not to mention i have the dated fema work orders
The reason you probably never heard about it was because it was above your pay-scale.
Next time your thinking about responding about something which you know nothing about you should get your facts straight. I don't have time to hear about what some scam artist ex employee thinks might have happened.
FYI: The judgment out of Covington Louisiana has been ruled in our favor as of the 29th of October 2010 case #1793688. They never responded to any of the courts letters or hearings. If they were not guilty of owing this money why would they be a no show.
futhermore I hope that you can make a better judgment next time you look for an employer.

I was present on this project for almost its entirety as a supervisor for CPC. To clarify the claims made here, there were never any calls issued at 9 or 10 at night for carpenters.... Didn't happen. . . ever. Safety was a priority to CPC and this project was no different. As the safety manager, I know this project logged over 750,000 safe manhours for CPC and swinging hammers at night with skillsaws buzzing aint the way it was done.
This person references in this story that he was told that he was overpaid by ine of the owners of the company... If that was the case, why was he waiting on money? ? OVER paid should clarify the situation.
As far as 50 decks/ramps per week and taking over the operation is concerned, thats a bogus claim as well. Most carpenters crews in LA, under CPC or whoever, did well to complete 5 decks and ramps a week. These decks came complete with about 20 pages of plans and specs .. government work... and were built to last a lifetime. Fifty decks and ramps per week didn't happen for any of the carpenter crews on the ground while I was there. . . None. Never.
I hope this guy has better luck in his future endeavors but I say this claim is absurd. I was there. I dont know what happened with the lawsuit either and I would have probably heard about it. I left the company in 2006 and when I left, the project was completed and closed out and I am not aware of this suit being filed at the time. It will be interesting to hear if there is any follow up.
