CONSECO FINANCE CORP (Creditor: Green Tree Retail Svc Bank Inc)-Borrowed $600-$700 in 2000; now owe $1,000+; Supv. Misty said I've only paid them 2 times in 1 year!

I financed a Yamaha keyboard for approx. $600-$700 in 2000. I paid monthly on the bill $40-$45.

At the end of April 2000, I moved and repeatedly wrote my new address on the back of their statement. Conseco couldn't read their own statements in which I carefully wrote my change of address in standard pre-school print. By the way, they use a very light green that can hardly be read no matter which way you turn it, but I managed to stay within the box boundaries.

After about 7 months of writing in my change of address, and faithfully returning to my old address in another town (a 45 minute drive from my new residence), to pick up my monthly bill because CONSECO COULDN'T GET MY ADDRESS RIGHT!

Of course, Conseco managed to assess me late fees, compounded interest, etc., etc.! I called and called them. I wrote on their bill and finally around October 2000 they changed my address, but I still continued to have bad credit with them. IT WAS THEIR FAULT!!!

I even went along with them several times and paid more than my original payment amount of $40-$45/month, thinking this would help me get back on track (something the representative said would help; it didn't).

I had another Conseco account for various music equipment purchased from Musicians Friend and eventually paid it off. I pay my bills.

I have not received a bill from Conseco for at least two months. They took the liberty to call me at work about 3 weeks ago, to which I replied that they had better not call me at work or I'll contact the Arizona Attorney General's Office for harassment, especially since they have my home address and phone number. I told them if they sent my bill MONTHLY, then they would receive a monthly payment. I never got a bill until last week when it showed I owe over $1,000!

Tonight is Friday, August 31, 2001 . . . the beginning of my relaxing, peaceful, relaxing Labor Day weekend AND at approximately 8:20 p.m. CONSECO REP. BEN calls me to say, "Lana, my name is Ben and I'm calling to say your bill is 59 days late, AND I'm calling to find out what you plan to do about this, AND to see if you want to make a payment over the phone."

I handed the phone to my husband and then went to the other phone. My husband told BEN to send us a bill, get us back on track with our original payments of $40-$45/month and we would be happy to pay it, until then, we're not paying anything. Ben agreed that our account is "wacked out" and didn't understand why it seemed to fluctuate so much from month to month on the billing amount. He also agreed that we were current until we moved. DUH! BEN AGREED THAT THIS WAS OUT OF CONTROL and offered to get his Supervisor to see if she could help us work out the situation.

Well, along comes SUPERVISOR MISTY, A SARCASTIC, KNOW-IT-ALL, I'M-IN-CHARGE YOUNG FEMALE, who has obviously let her title expand the size of her ego . . . Misty interrupted throughout our explanation (my husband and myself were trying to reason with her and get her to understand our frustration, AND to get her to agree to help us get back on track so we could pay this off!) with threats of LIENS and COURT, then topped it off by saying that in "ONE YEAR, I SHOW THAT YOU'VE ONLY PAID A TOTAL OF 2 TIMES" . . . as you cn see, Misty didn't want to work with us or help us get on track. She wanted to throw her weight around. I told her to send me the history of my account and my payment history. She said, "Well, you prove that you've paid" . . . then she repeated that she showed 2 times where my account has received a payment in the past year!!!

We both slammed our phones in her ear. She called us back and said I think we got disconnected. My husband said, "No I hung up on you and I'm going to do it again."

How disappointing, I feel so trapped over such a small amount of money. Obviously, I can't pay the whole amount at one time. I have other things that need to be paid, but I'm willing to get back on track and pay this thing off.

Is there anything that can be done?

What a waste of time . . . come and get the keyboard Miss Know-It-All Misty!!! We were willing to negotiate with you but you wanted to be a jerk! So be a jerk and come and get your keyboard!
