Consolidated Personnel Services is a Payroll Company, that provides payroll, will sell workers compansation and provide other HR services.

They say they make their income by charging an admin fee. They dont tell you they charge a high unemployment tax rate of 2.90% when they actually pay about 2.1% so they get you on the taxes, they pad the workers comp rates after the first renewal so they make additional profit on that as well as commissions on insurance products.

If you join the master group health plan they administer and get very ill, be careful they have cancelled companies from their plan when they find out someone is very ill by saying they no longer qualify due to size of the group etc.

Unemployment taxes stop at $7500 it is legal to charge taxes above that but not ethical.

You may be charged an admin fee on your payroll of 1.5% or 2% but dont be fooled they are making additional revenue on the taxes and workers compensation. Company is slick beware before signing. They are not a member of the National Association of PEO the association that helps to rule Professonal Employer Organization.

An Attorney could file a class action suit for any past CPS clients and current clients to see if they are being charged more for work comp than told as well as recoup fees they were not told about.

There are many good payroll companies this is not one of them.

I have used CPS with my business for the last 8 years. My business has over 40 employees. I have always found them very honest in their dealings. I have had many employees with very serious health issues over the years and have never had any problem with them trying to kick me off of change our health plan, or trying to change the terms of our contract in the middle of the game like this person complains.

I do find that when ever someone is trying to get me to switch PEO or ASO providers and to go with their company they always try and say that CPS is cheating you. IN fact I have had people form TAG Services level these same types of accusations on two different occasions. Both times they were lying. I went to CPS and confronted them and they provided me with an Independent Auditors Report. and it stated that everything was in accordance with GAAP. Which means they are not pulling any funny stuff like this person trys to claim. Charging you more than they are paying for SUTA and FUTA ( Unemployment taxes) would be illegal and they would go to jail. I never trust someone trying to sell me something that has to talk down there competitor. To me it says that the people do not have good product that can stand on its own so they distract and attack the competition.
