Thanks to Ripoff report and all of you consumers who have taken the time to file reports, my husband and I narrowly escaped being ripped off by Consumer Credit Counseling of America and Brennan, Smith & Associates.

A company had been recommended to us and when my husband looked up the number on the internet he inadvertently called the above named company instead of the one that had been recommended. I became suspicious because CCCofA was asking for a large up-front fee.

I researched them on the internet and when I found Ripoff Report I was aghast at what I discovered! Not a few, but many, many reports of their unscrupulous practices. I also found mention of them in other sources and reports, enough to scare the daylights out of me, since they now have my personal information. However, we were able to close down our checking account before CCCofA had a chance to begin withdrawing money.

We are now enrolled with Consumer Credit Counseling, Inc. which is a nation-wide, non-profit, accredited program. The set-up fee was minimal, the monthly fee is just $2 per account, and they have been very helpful and honest with us from the beginning.

Thank you so much for Rip-off Report, and all of you who have submitted warnings. This will be the first place I look from now on when I am preparing to do business with anyone!
