I have a lot of questions about this "free gift" thing. If you search for entries on here, there is a common thread.
1. Why do a lot of people report that they log into the redemption site, only to find that their email address is no longer in the system? Sure, it magically starts working again, but haven't alot of people given up by then? What do you know, that's one less "free gift" that has to be paid out.
2. Why do a lot of people report that 4 or 5 of their completed offers show up on the website within days, but there's always 1 or 2 that just kind of hang out there for weeks... even when the company has reported your purchases to CIV.
Check out this email that I received today:

What is this conversion they speak of? Sounds like BS to me. I'm convinced that their profit is tied to the amount of time they can make you wait.
When you think about the fact that many of their offers are memberships or "auto-ships"...the longer they can keep you on the hook before you cancel, the better.
So I ask you... Is this still a scam, even if you receive your "free gift" months later?
I'm still waiting for my cell phone.

Just days after I faxed in proof that I had fulfilled the obligations, I received a check in the mail. Along with it, a letter, much like the email I received, stating that they were unable to fulfill the Motorola Razr cellphone, so they enclosed a check for $449.99 so that I may purchase it.
Just one problem...the cost of that phone if you already have a cell plan, is $549.99. So, they shorted me a hundred bucks. Was I ripped off? You decide. I guess I was worried that I might end up with nothing so it seems like a bargain.
Most people must not pursue the prize. I spent maybe $200 bucks on the "offers" and that was only because I didn't get some canceled in time. A more conscientious person could do it for far less money. So, if they had a deal with Motorola to giveaway the cell phones at cost, it makes sense. But to send $450 bucks to somebody for spending $200 just doesn't make sense.
I'm hoping to get this on TV somehow.
Contact your local tv station's consumer news unit.
Good luck.

Received an email today with the subject "IN RESPONSE TO YOUR MESSAGE" (didn't send them a message), here is the text of that email:
Dear Valued Customer:
Thank you for your participation in our promotions.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to fulfill your gift through our regular sources. We are sending you a check for the value of the gift you registered for. Please use the check to purchase the product you are due.
Sincerely yours,
Customer Service Department
I've been reading that there are a lot of these "circumstances beyond their control" with people. It's got to be costing them money. The smart thing to do would be to partner with these companies and get their laptops, cellphones at cost..or at least cheap...but instead they're just mailing out checks for the retail value. Razr cellphones go for $500 bucks so I hope that's the amount of the check. Of course I'll post on here how much it was for...and how long it takes to get it.

Interestingly, a day after I posted on the ripoffreport.com I got the following email:
From: usersupport-104022@earn-great-gifts.com
Subject: Thank you for your confirmation.
Date: March 24, 2005 8:57:41 AM CST

Thank you for sending us your confirmation email, you are now qualified for a RAZR V3(r). The Security Verification Process has now been waived, so you will not have to mail us your Gift Redemption Voucher. Also, a Shipping Request has now been issued.
Please allow a few weeks for the fulfillment center to assemble, package, and ship a gift after the Shipping Request has been sent.
We appreciate your patience. Your gift should arrive soon.
Thank you,
Support
I was missing credit for two offers for weeks... I just faxed the receipts to a fax number that I found on here...and that's the email I received. Will keep you posted on if/when I get the phone.
