This company claims to offer legal background checks by collecting public records. They say they will mail you a background check within 72 hours. For me, all they did was rip me off.
I was considering using a Nanny service so I did the Nanny check just thinking getting some info would be playing it safe.
They charged me $69.95 and sent me nothing. A day or two later I emailed them -- no reply. I used their web form -- no reply. I sent hostile emails -- no reply. No nothing. Can't find a way or name to get a hold of. I tried looking up their registration info but this is only registered to their ISP (lasvegas.com).
Finally I complained to their ISP (it has now been a month) who cannot give me their info but sent them an email to contact me. So they email me (surprise!!) and say "What's the problem?" As if they don't know. So I repeat everything. They go "what your phone number so we can call you and discuss it?" (obviously they have my phone number, so I give them a copy of their own order acknowledgement) and demand a refund (now this is the fifth time so I am not surprised). Of course no call, no nothing.
Avoid these scammers. I am going to file a complaint with the city attorney and state attorney general as well as their ISP as soon as I can figure out exactly who and where they are. I guess I will start with Las Vegas, although the phone number I got from the credit card was actually in Los Angeles or Santa Monica (???)
I did finally find out my nanny is great by going down to the state community care licensing where they gave me a complete background check which they had on file.
So do your own homework and avoid these ripoffs.
Meanwhile I am fighting it out with my credit card which said I need to talk to someone on the phone before they will issue a chargeback. A virtual impossibility. So I will get a manager. Certainly not worth the several hours I have already wasted on this even though I expect the CC will eventually give me my money back.

I can garner no evidence from Stephen "trying to save a buck" in his post. From my perspective he did what would normally be the common, intellegent means of acquiring a "Nanny" with some background information..
.
Don't be so sarcastically condescending. Your offer to provide "garbage" at half price speaks well of your ascerbic, angry life.
.
I.M.H.O. many "private investigators" (a diploma from a match book cover ad.) are lock-step with car dealers. Only less intellegent.
.
"Throw money away"? That, unfortunately, is a common ocurrence. It's called "geting screwed". It would nearly always be the successful act of a low-life scamster and not necessairly the result of someone "trying to save a buck".
.
Wow! A real private investigator! I'll be sure to look you up when I'm in the market for half price garbage. When pigs fly, that is.

As a Licensed Private Investigator it amazes me how many people will risk their family or property just to save a buck.
Don't complain when you throw your money away, it is what you chose to do.
Private investigators charge their fees for a reason. If it is garbage that you want, I could have sold it to you for half their price.
