Isn't disability a Social Security income, therefore, paid for by the employee, and not "Government Cheese".

When I get my bills, I trust that they are accurate. I do not read my meters and compare them, I don't have the time. I would expect that since this error was on the part of Consumers Energy, that they would not just fling this monstrous bill on a person and make some attempt to explain and work with them. The reason why these companies can walk all over anyone is because they have a monopoly on their services depending on where you live. Even with the "choice" crap, they still have a hand in your services.

Consumers handled this like the typical morons they prove to be over and over again.

In my case, I moved into an apartment and switched my service to the new address. About 2 bills into my residency, I got a bill with an extra $425.00 tacked on it. When I called to find out WTF! I found out that they added a delinquent bill for an individual with the same last name as me, but no relation and tried to collect that way. They did remove the outstanding strangers balance, however, refused to remove the late charges incurred, which totalled an extra $16.00 that was not my responsibility in the first place. Who commits FRAUD?!

It is standard practice here to estimate the gas usage every other month. They use your past usage history usage to estimate your usage when the meter is not read.

Nowhere in your last post did you deny using the gas.

Evidently you had no past history to use to estimate the first month usage. Therefore the next bill was for two months. The total usage is periodically adjusted to actual readings.

That is one possibility.

If you do not pay for estimated gas usage, you are are ripping off the gas company.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Those are your own words and that is accepting the government cheese. You allegedly can;t make your bills but can somehow take in extra children that are not yours? Please.
You're in way over your head by what you, yourself stated. You want to play the pity card for shock value and got called on it.

1st I have worked all my young adult life since 15, I have worked full time, part time, overtime, two jobs,& went to college, and been taxed enough for the state to take care of me until I die, if I choose.
2nd I was injured on the job and now for no reason of my own I am disable for the rest of my life. Not only do I have internet, I have cable, a bathroom in side, & running water, in my own house.
3rd I am not on govt' aide and never have, probably some of your relatives are using state funds as a way of living, but I used it as a last resort to a problem that needed to be fixed, and I couldn't fix it in the time frame given.
4th Last time I checked you can not eat or heat internet service or a laptop. (some people are still ignorant )
5th I supported and raised my children they are adults. I have temporary custody of someone else children to , give the kids a stable life ! What do you do for the kids in your community
The point of the story was, Consumers like you judged someone, and spoke false information with no proof, (Slander) when it was their error by not reading both the meters out side in plain, clear view. I have never had a problem with paying for myself. The problem is the time frame to pay, with no exception, and giving false information then having to apologize for miss informing people about the situation. I have never been unreasonable and dishonest. why are you making statements but need to be Anonymous ? I have always stood by my word with my name !

Dishonest is some of their employees making up false gas calls to get paid more money while on call !

Unless you are saying that you didn't use any gas from July to March,... you simply took advantage of a billing mistake and hoped they'd never find out, so they are right to bill you for it.
And now that you refuse to pay what you owe, I think they are right to cut off your assistance *because* you are refusing to pay for what you used. You are the fraud, hopefully this will help you understand :

If you deposit $50 into your bank account, and the bank makes a mistake showing that you deposited $50,000, and you run out and spend it, you can't just wave your statement around saying "See! See! I deposited $50,000! The statement says so!"
And then refuse to pay them back. That is fraud also.

There are many people who will try to get away with not paying what they owe, if a mistake is made on the other end. But if the other end catches on to the mistake.... they have every right to collect. Because it's now YOU who is ripping THEM off by refusing to pay. If you weren't so unreasonable and dishonest, they would be happy to work with you.
And you say you have starving and freezing kids, but you have internet service and a computer, AND you get money out of my paycheck for assistance???? Priorities, please!
