This company quoted me a price of $270 for 3 men & a truck @ 90 per hour for at least 3 hours; mY CREDIT CARD WAS BILLED over $1,000, the PACKING MATERIALS were over $500 ALONE. I moved ONLY 10 minutes away, and had a 2 bedroom apartment. This company rushes you through a contract when they first arrive without fully explaining !! They have you intital and sign before the work is actually completed plus they book your moveing date with a credit card in advance already on file. One mover goes from room to room asking you what you want moved, you point the items out only later to find that the items you pointed out are wrapped in there moving boxes and that fee is charged to you at the end of the move at rates rangeing from $8-$35 per box. In this case I had purchased ALL MY OWN BOXES from U-Haul, so there was NO need to use ANY of there boxes, however they did anyway and snuck them down to there truck.

They also wrapped small iems that I could have took over in a car !! Examples: Vacumm cleaner, portable fan & heater , even a SMALL carpet steam cleaner. They charged me extra labor time due to takeing apart items that were unnecessary examples included, a toddler table with 2 chairs, a toddler bed, and a baby crib !! Not to mention those items can no longer be used they LOST ALL THE SCREWS TO THE PREVIOUS ITEMS !!! My children at this time DO NOT have beds nor do I have rent money because they overdrawn ny account !!

They took 5 hours to load because they were takeing items down to there truck and NOT placeing them in the truck at that time but just sitting all my items next to the truck. Onec they brought all the items down they begin to load, which took even longer. Once we finally made it to the new location my items were held in the truck when I disagreed to the billing amount the company called local law enforcement on me; who then stated if I don't sign the credit slip then all my items would be taken back to San Jose, on there truck. I have 2 kids and one on the way I could NOT let that happen so I was forced to sign the slip !!

The supervisors are also really rude, when I called to speak with them to resolve this issue they were NO help , they yelled at me and told me I was wasteing my time and that they got there money...They also LIED on local law enforcement and my boyfriend, they said they reported that there mover was threatned by my boyfriend with a bat! Well, as you know all we owned was on that truck , so where did the bat come from ?? Not to mention the officer came inside my apartment and if there was such a report someone would have been arrested. I contaced local law enforment to verify the report the company spoke about and the sargent told me there was NO POLICE REPORT THAT WAS A LIE!

Some employeees they called professionals, complained about there back, had only been with the company 2 day's and some were just helping out a friend, moving was NOT there line of work. In the end I'm stuck with A NEGATIVE ACCOUNT , NO BEDS FOR BOTH OF MY CHILDREN, NO RENT OR BILL MONEY PLUS they were suppose to Dissassemble & Reassemble FREE of charge and all my items were left up against the wall, here I am 4 months pregnect and had to sleep on the floor that night with my children. I would also like to add that this was my FIRST AND LAST time I will ever use a moveing company, the only reason I did is because I had an upcoming surgery and I am pregnect so I hoped that this would cutt down on my stress level, boy was I wrong !!

Jim, you just don't get it.

Jim,

Are you a troll?

I find it humorous that you come in with all these comments of why this is the victims fault. You were not part of the move, you were not there. You obviously did not read the whole report here as she stated she did not want them using their boxes, they disassembled things that they did not reassemble.

They left her with missing hardware so she was unable to even reassemble beds etc.

I have had personal experience with one of these ripoff moving companies and there are many of them out there.

This is a typical scam they all use. Show a reasonable price, then once they have your furniture on their truck, they hold you hostage for an extortionist price to give it back to you.

You were probably or still are one of these con artists, no?

File a complaint with the CPUC and BBB

AUTHOR: Parthia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 08, 2008

I currently have a complaint filed with the CPUC and the Better Business Bureau. They are under investigation and if you log a complaint it will help others avoid having such a horrible experience.

I had almost every piece of furniture (that they actually moved) broken. I know how you feel about the price being jacked up.

They basically held my items hostage until I paid them over 1300 over quoted price.

RIP OFF

AUTHOR: Lsr - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 02, 2008

I just wanted to add this company has several hits for doing the same thing and supplying the same type of service, it clearly shows in these reports that I am NOT the only person who was ripped off by this company! The labor time they took was because they were busy disassembling items they had No business and if I tell them I do not want to use ANY of there boxes then that's just the way it should be that's just plain customer service, this company does this sort of thing all the time and should not be able to get away with it , if I would have checked out this website before , I would not be in this mess. I will be takeing this to court for sure ! The only misunderstanding here is that these people are crazy if they think I'm not going to pursue this in court! LSR

A Lot of Misunderstanding Here

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 01, 2008

It seems there is a lot of misunderstanding here:

1. In a local move, you are generally quoted for labor at a minimum number of hours; it does not mean the move will take 3 hours. It means that if the move takes less than 3 hours, you will be billed for 3 hours. If it takes more than 3 hours, you will be billed for the number of hours it takes. Materials and the like are NOT part of the quote; there is no way the mover can quote such a thing prior to the move, only that materials are seperate. It is not out of the ordinary to have a 2 bedroom apartment take 3-4 hours to pack and load, 2 to unload, and 1 for transportation, depending on what's in the apartment. If it took 5 hours to pack and load....there must have been a lot to disassemble and pack.

2. The moving company is not obligated to use the boxes you provide - it is in their interest (and yours, I might add) to use the materials they provide, especially if something breaks. If your materials are used and something breaks, they can deny the claim. If they use their materials, they must honor the claim. U-Haul boxes are for do-it-yourself moves and they're fine for a do-it-yourself move. However, I would not expect a moving company to use U-Haul boxes for one of their moves.

3. The professional movers at the moving company should have put the items together at destination. On the other hand, the movers you hired were not professional. In San Jose, a 3 man professional moving team would have billed you closer to $170/hour for your move. When you hire a moving company at $95/hour for 3 men, you get what you paid for....poor service. You certainly would have paid more, but your crib would be assembled, as well as the high chair. Your account, either way, would be in the negative.

In the end, there are reasons people use a moving company and being pregnant is normally one of those reasons, not because of the stress but because of the physical exertion one must use to move themselves. However (and I say this all of the time), moving is not an inexpensive event and a moving company is even more expensive. It costs much more than you think and choosing the cheapest mover results in the sort of move you got. Your results would have been better with a professional mover, but it would have cost you much more and your complaint to ROR then would have been more price emphasized than anything else.
