DO NOT STAY AT CORAL COSTA CARIBE RESORT IN DOM REP

CheapCaribbean.com
Coral Costa Caribe Resort
Juan Dolio Beach
San Pedro de Macoris
Dominican Republic 1-809-526-2244

As a world traveler who spends several months a year
traveling the globe especially in the Caribbean islands, I felt the need to make
others aware of my horrible experience while I stayed at the Coral Costa Caribe
Resort in the Dom Rep, which I booked using Cheap Caribbean .com  And yes, I know any company using the name Cheap should have sent off bells in my head, but alas hindsight is 20/20 and I certainly know better now.

Cheap Caribbean was absolutely no help is remedying my situation and basically told me to go F#@K myself as theres nothing they can do to make up for the horrible experience I had at the Coral Costa Caribe Resort. This was basically the same thing the resort said to me as I complained. So here I am writing a post to alert others to beware of these businesses.

Here is what happened and why my trip was unacceptable and I wish I had stayed home or went anywhere else;

As I walked the all inclusive Coral Costa Caribe Resort grounds, the buildings were in very poor condition and looked like they have not been updated in 30 years. The paint is peeling off many of the walls. The 2 hot tub Jacuzzis are both broken and out of service. Only 2 of the 5 restaurants they offer are open and available to eat at. There was no event
organizer to tell people what fun things there were to do at the hotel. But there was an event person there to sell people island adventures. All the restrooms were very dirty and looked like they may have been quickly swept once a day at the most.

On the beach there were many homeless type people trying to sell you junk, and in the resort area there were more people who set up outside tables trying to sell you their junk every time you walked by the pool or beach areas. Which was very annoying if you walked by several times always having them trying to get you to come look at their junk. Not a relaxing environment at all.

The food was very bland, and was the lowest cost food they could serve. It was comparable to fast food or low budget buffet food. The alcohol was all bottom choice, lowest priced brands; there was no top shelf alcohol.

I did hire a private taxi with cold AC to take me around the island, and the people are all very nice and friendly, and the local food away from the Coral Costa Caribe Resort was very good. I will return to the Dominican Republic many times, but never again to the Coral Costa Caribe Resort.

Day 1: The air conditioner in my room only blows hot air, my TV did not work, and 4 light bulbs were burned out in my room. I notified front desk who said everything would be fixed very soon.

Several hours later my TV is fixed and the burned our bulbs are replaced, but the AC needs more repairs. I ask the front desk again, when my AC will be fixed. They said very soon. Few more hours passed and still no AC. By now I am tired and need to sleep, but my room feels about 10 degrees hotter than the outside temperature due to no breeze blowing through my room, so its extremely HOT in my room. I am unable to get a good nights sleep due to this extreme heat, as I am sweating all night in bed and constantly waking up, which doesnt leave me in a very pleasant mood for the next day.

Day 2: First thing in the morning I again ask the front desk to fix my AC, they said they will get it fixed, again. I am gone for
several hours touring the island, and when I return, my room is still hot. Now maintenance has discovered that the AC unit they thought they fixed yesterday isnt fixed and is now freezing up and has snow or ice covering the front of it,
which prevented it from blowing cold air. So they told me I had to leave it unplugged for a few hours for it to melt, and then they can look into fixing it again after it melts. So I go find other things to do like walk by the closed
restaurants wishing they were open so I could eat at this all inclusive resort, and I talk to some of the locals and go to the Casino where it has AC. Then I return to my room and still no cold AC, but now they installed a remote control
on my AC unit because the control panel never worked it. So this fix of adding a remote control to the AC unit still did not make it blow cold air. So it was another hot sweaty night barely getting any sleep.

Day 3: Went to front desk, they all know who I am now, thatguy who complains all day about his broken AC unit, and there I was again, asking them to fix it, and them once again promising to take care of it. Why Ibelieved them, I do not know, I guess I wanted to believe there was someone who worked there who could fix the AC unit in my room, but I was wrong. So they
tell me to go back to my room again and wait for the repair man to come in and check it. And by now I have wasted a lot of my time telling the front desk, maintenance, and every employee at the hotel who asked me, about my broken AC
unit and my hot room. Again, all day they attempted to fix my AC unit, and never did, so another night of suffering was endured. I actually went to theopen roomed lobby and tried to sleep on the couch there as with the breeze it
was much cooler than my room. But I wasnt able to sleep there either since it was a very public area.

Day 4: I left the Dom Rep on to my next adventure If you dont like a 90F degree room then you would not
like this hotel. If youre like me and are accustomed to cold AC, good food,
working hot tubs, cleanliness, painted walls, and a top quality traveling
experience, then the Coral Costa Caribe Resort is the last place you would want to stay.

I should have left and checked into a Westin or Hilton type hotel and I am sure I could
have enjoyed my trip. Being sleep deprived, hot and sweaty the entire time due
to the Coral Costa Caribe Resorts failure to fix my AC made me not want to do hardly anything except find
someplace with cold AC where I could relax.
