In September of 2013, my husband & I purchased a Time Share from Coral Sands Resort in Hilton Head SC.  We had been vacationing at Spinnaker Resorts, a time share that we owned.

We went on a tour of the Coral Sands Resort & liked what we saw.  We went back to their offices & talked to a verification coulselor.  When I ask her what the maintenance fee would be, she told me $300.00 per year which was $500.00 less than I was paying.  What she failed to mention was that it took 3 years of maintenance payments to get one week at the resort.

Next we spoke with the verification officer.  He told us he could sell our time share at Spinnaker for $22,000.00.  He would give us $11,000.00 now as a down payment on new time share & if the Spinnaker time share was not sold within 6 months, they would send us a check for the remaining $11,000.00.  That was a LIE!!!

After numerous calls to Coral Sands Offices, we went to see them in March 2014.  I spoke with another counselor who told us that both of the people whom we spoke to had either misleand or lied.

She told me that they could offer me one of their other time shares at Port of Call.  At the time it seemed like our only option.  We now have about $42,000.00 tied up in Coral Sands & we are still not getting what we want.

I have read numerous complaints against this resort & I don't understand why they are still allowed to continue with their deceptive business practices.  I always thought "Truth In Advertising" was something that business adhered to.  I guess not in the case of Coral Sands Resorts.

When we dealt with Spinnaker Resorts, everything the told us was true.  We had no reason to beleive that Coral Sands was anything different.  But I guess not everybody adheres to honesty.  Coral Sands will say & do anything to sell you a time share.  They will LIE & mislead you every step of the way.

BUYERS BEWARE.  STAY AWAY FROM CORAL SANDS RESORTS.

Timeshare Companies are a SCAM

AUTHOR: DeborahM - ()

POSTED: Friday, June 20, 2014

Most timeshare companies are taking advantage of people, often those who are more vulnerable and less able to resist hard sales tactics. I have heard of many cases where maintenance costs rise well above inflation. It would appear the timeshare companies lock people into contracts and then drive up their profits though increased maintenance charges. It would be good to see legislation whereby timeshare companies can only charge "reasonable" maintenance costs and not use this annual fee to fleece people's bank accounts
