I went on-line to diagnose the problem I was having with my new washer machine and subsequently found a diagram of the parts and connections for print. I printed out the diagram and took apart my washer to see where the problem was. Luckily, it was easy to diagnose just a broken spring.

The stores online sold the springs from $16 to $19 a pair. As today is my day off I wanted to get it done today so I went to my local supplier Corbetts Appliance Repairs.

I dreaded going in because the last time I went in (to get a water inlet valve) the man behind the desk offered to come to my house and install it if I had a cold beer waiting for him (said with a wink). He was too flirty and very offensive.

When I went in the business the smoke nearly choked me and I became anxious because I suffer from migraines and knew that much smoke would trigger a headache. The woman in the small office asked to help me after another man said "what chu need?" and I started to tell him and then he said "you gotta talk to sumbody else...." The lady then said she couldn't help me either and went to get another man. I again started my story now for the third time and another man overheard my need and came right up with the part I needed. I had the part number but no one ever asked. I said that I thought I should get a pair (that is how they are sold online). The man came back several minutes later with another one (used no less) Neither of the springs were packaged.

I was given the wrong water inlet valve from them the first time so I was skeptical with no packaging that these were correct. Then I asked about the shocks to see if they had them (In case they were need after the spring installation). The guy went to see if they had them and after about 10 minutes the initial woman asked "what is going on? What are they doing?" I replied that I did not know and told her if there was any way to speed this along I would appreciate it because I suffer from smoke induced migraines. She then said to me "well I too suffer from perfume miagaines and yours is making me sick and thats why I would not help you."

So she rushed to write up the springs but used the screen that had the shocks pulled up and wrote the ticket for $28.40 X 2 plus tax. I told her that I thought that was the price of the shocks and she flipped the screen around and tapped and said "it says here springs" I said, well, they sell those online for $16 ofr a PAIR. She told me "well then you should pay the $16 and shipping...."

They helped two other people in front of me (Men) and made me wait - I can only presume as punishment for wearing perfume in their establishment. I believe I was treated unfairly and now I cannot decide which is worse: their chauvinistic male employees or the rude overbearing woman. Either way they are a rip off to charge over three times what the parts cost online and they sell used parts as new.

As a side note for those who are smoke sensitive this place is absolutely unbearable. As a second side note Charleston SC is a smoke free city in their business establishments. Their door says "No smoking" - with customer service like that I bet most people leave "smoking mad". Customers beware they are rude, and sell used parts as new. They are predujice towards female customers!!
