A few days ago I found out that an account that I had through Best Buy ended up in collections because I could not pay my bill because I was in financial troubles all winter. I contacted Best Buy and they gave me the number of the debt collectors office that my account had been sent to.

I call the office and it's called Corporate Receivables Inc. No one answered the phone so I ended up leaving a message for them to contact me about my account so I could set up some kind of monthly payments. The following day a man by the name of John calls me. I explain to him the situation that I've been in since November of last year and why my account ended up in his office. This man goes on to tell me that he does not want to talk to me, but he wants to talk to the person who co-signed for me to get the credit card.

I go on to tell him that the co-signer is my mother in law and that she wasn't home that she was at her first job of the day. He then tells me that he wanted her work number. I told him I could not give him the number and then he got really upset with me. He went on to tell me that it was her responsability to pay my balance if I could not and that HSBC didn't trust me to actually give me credit so she had to co-sign for me. I tried explaining to him that I just wanted to possibly start monthly payments and that I was the one who called him about this matter and I was trying to do the responsible thing to get back on track.

He then went on and on about how irresponsible we both were for not paying our bills and that we should have never gotten a card because we were stealing merchandise. He was acting as if we were criminals! He then told me that he no longer wanted to talk to me and to have my mother in law call him regarding the account. I have never been treated so badly by a creditor in my life! I understand that it is their job to get money from people, but this was just rediculous. This person should not be able to treat people so badly without even knowing the situation.

If anyone else has had problems with this John Fox(manager) of corporate Receivables please let me know. I already took action and contacted the attorney general about this matter.
