CORRECTIONAL BILLING SERVICES RIPOFF Selma Alabama

I was notified by phone that I cannot get collect calls because I went over in my collect call usage. I have Verizon California and had always received my collect calls billed on my Verizon bill. My husband is in a correctional facility and was not able to call me but relayed a message to me via his mother that my house phone was restricted from receiving collect calls. I called Verizon California who in turn directed me to a company called Secerz which recently merged with Correctional Billing Services.

I don't deny that I had collect calls, however I was under the impression that my calls were being paid through Verizon California (my house phone). Not once did I receive a letter that there was a change in how I would be billed for collect calls. Nor did I realize my phone could be manipulated from a 3rd party without my consent. In order for me to receive calls and have this restriction removed by Correction Billing Services I had to pay the bill which was $95.38. (I never received a bill) In addition I had to pay an $8.00 charge before Correctional Billing Services could process the payment and remove the restriction. I have never received a bill from Correction Billing Services but wanted to receive collect calls from my husband so I paid a total of $103.38.

I feel this is a sham not just to me but to all the other people who do not have access or ability to complain to the proper authorities. I'd like someone to process a class action lawsuit on behalf of the people and I will assist in any way possible. This is a sham service, not very professional and affects the poor, uneducated person more than anyone else. Who do people turn to when this type of fraud is taking place. I want my $8.00 back and will do what ever I can as a matter of principle.
