As customers of Corvo over the past four of five years, we always enjoyed eating there. So I write not to bury Corvo, but to put this info out there; and mostly because when we approached the restaurant, we were told "I'm sorry, I cannnot help you."
Unfortuantely, I was given a horrible case of food poisoning the last week in December. Not just stomach-ache-and-nausea food poisioning, but nine-hours-of-throwing-up-and-going-to-the-hospital food poisoning.
I thought "Maybe it wasn't Corvo. It couldn't be. I love Corvo." It was Corvo. We didn't eat anywhere else that day, and it immediately followed our dinner there.
Granted, we're only visitors (five or six weeks a year) but we have local friends we know well, and I thought I knew this restaurant's reputation. This was the eve before we were set to leave town, and besides costing us a hospital visit, it cost us another night in the hotel.
I'm told these folks also own La Bella Ristorante (also in Saranac Lake) and Jimmy's 21 (Lake Placid). Creepy.
Now, maybe these things happen every once in a while in restaurants. Maybe the staff member we talked to didn't know what to do or was scared to get the Manager. Corvo is not an expensive upscale place, but it is certainly not cheap and I would expect more from our $45 check (for two people) than $200 in extra expenses and a lack of concern from the staff.
I might have tried to talk myself into going back if I had gotten to really talk with someone, a possible explanation, an apology ... something. Food Poisoning + Lack of Concern = Lousy Restaurant.

Hi there, my name is christina.
I am head chef at The Jazz Cafe in Detroit Michigan.
I just wanted to let you know that it takes 24 to 48 hrs. for any food poisoning to take affect.
So if you got sick the very same night you ate at this particular restaurant you might want to think back to what you had to eat the two days preceding this incedent.
Just a bit of helpful info!
