On October 16th, I was invited to a Halloween costume party for the following weekend on October 23rd. I got onto the internet looking for costumes. I ordered a costume from Costumes Inc. with the $20 Next Day UPS mailing option. They had an option for a $10 "handling fee" for same day (as ordering) processing with same day out mailing, which I decided would not be necessary as they would receive the order on Monday and be sending it out Tuesday. On the order form, I stressed the point that I needed the costume by October 22nd.
The party on October 23rd came and went...no sign of the costume. I emailed the company and told them they could stick the order and I that appreciated their wonderful, competent business practices. I emailed this on October 24th.
Alas, on October 30th, 15 DAYS LATER, what arrives on my doorstep but this costume with invoice enclosed stating it was shipped Next Day Air and charged me that extra $20. They even dated the invoice the 28th, so that they could wait for the last minute and get their tired $20.
However, I have in my possession the original invoice for the October 16th order DATED October 16th. Therefore, because of this being a point of the matter and not particularily a war over $20 and a poorly made, cheap costume that I was grossly overcharged for, I intend to pursue this to the fullest extent that I can. I have entered a dispute with my credit card company and will NEVER pay for this junky fabric called a costume and the $20 to send it to me 15 days too late.
I emailed this joke of a business the day I recieved the package and left my phone number but, of course, like all scam artists they just ain't got the balls to stand up to those they did wrong. They continue to hide out.....
Our president isn't the cause of our crap economy, it's companies like this that cannot run a true business to save their life. As a consquence, they are preceding to be slammed legally and reputably over this.
I am a housewife with not a thing to do in this world but stomp, stomp, stomp on those who try to stomp me first. I shall have grand fun driving these people batty, if not out of business.
Wish me luck, folks.

#6 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Atlast Fulfillment is the common factor
AUTHOR: Moi - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, December 20, 2008
Wendy,
This message is not only for your information but for any and all people who have done business with ISpeedway, Ionline, and CostumesInc.
I am a former employee of Atlast Fulfillment, and the one thing that all of the complaints with the aboved mentioned companies have in common, is the fact that they use Atlast Fulfillment for their outsourcing needs.
I was working on the CostumesInc. orders during the month of October, and I know first hand that alot of orders went out extremely late or not at all. Atlast costs CostumesInc. upwards of $40,000 in lost business..... according to our daily meetings threating our jobs anyway. If for whatever reason an item was not available or just "lost" in the warehouse, the order went on hold and in some cases completely forgotten about.
This company is ran backwards, and the level of accountability is at a big fat zero. I express my deepest sorrow for you in the fact that this company was able to give you the run around. While it is true that Atlast and the above mentioned companies may be separate, if you look at the complaints, the underlined problem is the incompitence of the money hungry owners of Atlast Fulfillment. If you think their customer support is bad, you should see the way they treat their employees.
My Deepest Regards,

Response from Costumes Inc

Dear Wendy,
I was sorry to hear about your negative experience with our company. I attempted to research your order based on info in your complaint but was unable to find an order with your first name and address in our system within 30 days of the time frame you mentioned in your complaint. I would very much like to research this problem further and hopefully either give you a satisfactory reason for why your order was delayed or a refund for the order. Could you please provide me with either an order number or last name used on the order.
Thank You
C. Rubenstein

Interesting Point

Wendy, you have an interesting point. In your rebuttal you say that on this deceptive company's site they have" no returns or refunds". You contracted with them to provide you with a costume by a given date. They failed to do so. I think that that no R and R is meant if they live up to their side of the contract, which they didn't do, the customer may not return any item. I'll bet they thought the costume was for Halloween, the 31st, that's why they didn't get it out to you until the 30th, late, even though you told them you needed it a week before. When UPS tries to deliver something and the customer won't accept it, they write on their pad, REFUSED BY CUSTOMER, and send it back. A few times, when I've ordered something from a company and they've promised it on a given date, and guaranteed it, if it doesn't show up on time, screw 'em. I'll refuse it. Let them eat the postage and lose the sale. That's why I suggested that you might have refused the package. Good luck.

REFUSING NOT GOOD IDEA
AUTHOR: Wendy - (U.S.A.)

I would have refused it but on the website it states NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS and all sales are final. It would have most likely been kept by them without credit to myself or they would have claimed never to have received it.
I keep a papertrail on everything. By accepting it, I can send it back with delivery confirmation and prove they received it. I am mailing out a dispute letter with all paperwork involved to my credit card company today.
Thanks.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Should Have Refused The Package
AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

Sounds like a ripoff company to me. The only thing different you might have done was to refuse the package when UPS came to deliver it. That way you wouldn't have to deal with shipping it back to this crooked company. Contact your cretit card company and dispute the charges. Good luck.
