Back in December my tranny went out and I picked Cottman to take it to because they have free towing and vehicle check. After my car was delivered to them Phil the old manager of the location (who is not there anymore due to being dismissed) called me to let me know that they were going to take the tranny out and find out the problem.

After time went by, they found the problem, which was due to my radiator leaking and flowing into the tranny. I had them fix the car thinking it was going to be around 3000 from what Phil had told me. Day after Day I got phone call after phone call to let me know something else was wrong. Later after all is said and done, the car in total was supposed to be 5000.00. That is a lot for a tranny that is rebuilt.

The day that they said it was done and took it for a test drive, surprisingly, the wiring went bad in the computer system. That I have known idea about until after they fixed it costing another 600 dollars. Adding the car up to 5600.00. I was beyond mad because I did NOT authorize that. I was told after the fact. My questions are how the wiring even went bad in the computer after all. That isn't near the tranny!!!

So, here we are 6 months later and the car is running rough. We moved to Tucson AZ during this time and I took the car to the local Aamco, previously, Cottman. I have the National warranty deal on it. Anyways, I took my receipt up to the Aamco and to my amazement, 2 guys working at the Aamco preceded to tell me that I was totally ripped off. They over charged me completely. Just to let you in on one thing they fixed was the radiator which should have cost me 250.00 tops, they charged me 608.00. Yes, a little inflated I would say.

After all this happened, I went home and called the new Manager (Austin) who is a freaking piece of work along with the loud mouth, arrogant, thinks he knows it all, won't shut up owner, who by the way wouldn't get on the phone with me. If you are the owner and you know about the problem, Out of respect, you should have gotten on the phone and tried to fix this yourself. You own a freaking repair shop buddy, your not some saint or something. When asking about all the prices this is what Austin said and I quote said "yes, we inflate prices to make a profit, who doesn't". "Oh come on" I said, "I understand that places do inflate but, holy, they have a heart when they do it". They jumped 350.00 for a freaking radiator. That is not all though, they did it on everything. So, after the long and terrible conversation with these degenerates, I hung up. Obviously, they don't care nor do they want to help. So, it is now my main priority to spread the word and let everyone I know, know that this place will take your money and that they don't care about anything else. Oh, ps, they do take advantage of women. I feel that if I had a male genital area and knew about cars and the parts, this wouldn't have happened, at least not as much.

Next time, ask trusted and knowlegeable people for recommendations. We used to have a 1989 F150 that we always had repaired at a local mechanic in Athens, NY c1987 to 2000. I knew this truck had a bad tranny when we got it for free, but gift horses being what they are....

The tranny finally lost second gear, so I asked the Athens mechanic where I should get it fixed, and he said "If it were my truck, I'd take it to.....". I did follow his recommendation and $1300 later that truck had an excellent tranny. It was still excellent when we sold that truck in Jan 2007.

As far as I am concerned, none of us can simply trust "brand names".
