I am writing this to report my recent experience with leasing a new car from Courtesy Nissan (Richarson, TX). I did bring it to the notice of various management reps, who could be of no help. I would still like to document my case.

I leased a new Nissan Maxima 2010 on 12/23/09. The salesperson was reasonable and I agreed on a deal for the lease. So far so good. Then starts the documentation and finance office involvement where I was tricked into paying $920 more on the lease.

All key factors of the deal were altered 1) Monthly Cost, 2) Lease Term & 3) Residual value.

1) $395 were added to the contract as Lease termination charges without explanation and disclosure.

2) The lease term was changed from 39 to 36 months and $540 added to my lease under the pretext that I would save some money. I soon realized I was tricked. If 36 months is a better lease, why does the salesperson sell 39 months and then finance changes the terms to confuse the customer. Neat trick. But a person with some common sense can make out pretty soon.

Once I realized I was tricked I discussed the issue with the salesperson, finance & management. I wasted 2 hours discussing with various people. Finally the manager tried to strike a deal I would be refunded some money ONLY AND AFTER IF I PROVIDE AN EXCELLENT FEEDBACK. No promises and no Checks until the feedback is done. Is this called blackmail? (maybe that is too strong a word, but I could not think of any other word to express what I felt).

As stated above, the salesperson was good, but is of no use if he cannot get the deal thru with the terms negotiated. He passed on the fault to the management.

As a loyal Nissan customer for the last 12 years, I did not expect this from Nissan. This kind of tactics unnessarily creates a bad name for the car manufacturer (who is at no fault. I love the car). I will probably never again buy a Nissan inspite of being a good car, because of unfair sales tactics.

Beware of buying/leasing from Courtesy Nissan (Richardson, TX).

*THE MANUFACTURERS & THEIR DEALER NETWORK ARE BOTH CONSPIRING TO DEFRAUD AS MANY INNOCENT CONSUMERS AS......

AUTHOR: Karl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 08, 2010

POSSIBLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE, IN MY OPINION.

All those 0%, 1.9%, 2.9% & low interest rate loans that the manufacturers advertise on TV are simply ways to drive as many people into the dealerships so the people at the dealerships can DECEIVE, MANIPULATE, & FINANCIALLY INJURE as many innocent consumers as possible. It's been going on for many, many, years in the car business. It has taken place in the mortgage business too.

'Google' this- CAR SALES: TRICKS OF THE TRADE- CONSUMER ALERT, and watch how Tori was SCAMMED when she went to buy a car. That's how most car dealers in the USA operate. Then 'Google' this- AUTO DEALER LOUIS F HARRELSON TO PLEAD GUILTY, and read all of the related articles on the web.

Now 'Google' this- COUNTRYWIDE WHISTLEBLOWER REPORTS LIAR LOANS, and watch that Dateline NBC video. The car business & the mortgage business are/were two of the most CORRUPT businesses in the USA. And just think, a 'house' and a 'car' are the two BIGGEST purchases that most Americans make in their lifetime!

NO WONDER THE USA IS COLLAPSING.

Dealers are independent.

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 04, 2010

"But, I wonder why NISSAN does not have any oversight on dealers who spoil their name. I really think they should. "

No manufacturer does.   Dealerships are independent entities and can pretty much do as they please.   It's been my experience that the manufacturers know how they do business and tend to turn a blind eye to shady practices, as long as the dealer sells cars.

I predict that your complaint to Nissan will be replied to with a suggestion that you should take it up with the independent dealer.

I've been a Nissan customer for 18 years (3 vehicles).  I like their product and have resigned myself to having to put up with the dealership system.   It would be the same if I wanted to buy a Ford, GM or other brand, so I don't sweat it.  I just go in with the attitude that the finance guy is going to try and pick my pocket. I've never been disappointed.

Its a FLEASE!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, January 03, 2010

Never, ever get into a CAR FLEASE.  You are the one who gets FLEECED.

But beyond that, why did you reward them by agreeing to this?  Did you see these phoney fees etc before you signed the contract?  If you signed the contract without reading it then cry all you want.  Its a deal.

Car Manufacturers Role...

AUTHOR: JV, Dallas TX - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, January 02, 2010

Thanks everyone for your comments. I feel better I am not alone and will remember the lesson learned.

As stated, I like Nissan cars, and do not feel like punishing the manufacturer for tricks played by the Dealers. But, I wonder why NISSAN does not have any oversight on dealers who spoil their name. I really think they should.

I will report this matter to NISSAN Financial/Lease. Thanks for the info.

Fair enough.

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 31, 2009

"All I am trying to achieve with this posting is that it may spread some awareness to unassuming consumers like me and they can be careful of such tricks from dealers."

What you describe is common at dealers.  The "finance" guy's job is to put as many extras on the contract as possible, then get you to sign it.   I have never bought a car where they did not try to sneak items into the contract.  It's the way the business works.  The only defense is to ignore whatever they tell you, and don't sign anything until you have read and understood it.

Trusting a car salesman to look out for your financial interests is like trusting a hungry dog with your lunch.

Do your homework before leasing a car.

AUTHOR: Frederick - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 31, 2009

Here is my advice:

There are definitely good, honest Nissan dealers in the DFW area but sorry Courtsey Nissan is just not one of them. Do not punish Nissan - I have driven a Nissan all my life. The dealer is the problem - not Nissan. I would take it up with Nissan Financial Corp. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp.8900 Freeport Pkwy Irving, Texas 75063-2438 or call them at 800-456-6622.

As you learned first hand all their feedback, are not worthy of being valid as they were probably coerced as well into giving a positive feedback. Just like it happened to you.

Good luck!

I am the so called 10K upside down person CJ Turner and Courtesy Nissan wrote about - please read my ripoff report too.

electronic signing is the latest trick.

AUTHOR: Will - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 31, 2009

Signing contracts electronically is one of the newer scams in the dealers bag of tricks.  The last car I purchased the finance guy whips out his gizmo to sign on and says "we only do contracts this way". I say "yeah right,I only sign paper" and after a brief argument I walk. In the parking lot the manager runs to me like he's in a marathon,we argue......knocks off $200 & paper for signatures!  Finance guy says about 2 words to me the whole time.

"TRUST" a stealership.......NO SUCH THING!

Good Question

AUTHOR: JV, Dallas TX - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 30, 2009

Good Question.

Thank God we live in a country where Guns are not used to buy/sell cars.

Any common man like me still believes in 'trust', especially since I have leased from Nissan twice before.

1) The contract was done electronically where I was just asked to sign on a keypad, without a chance to review the terms. I understand all items on the contract should have been disclosed. I 'trusted' the terms would be as negotiated with the salesperson. As I stated, I represent a 'common consumer' (which most people are) and not a brilliant lawyer or finance manager from a car dealership.

2) If the dealership did not believe in tricks, the salesperson should have sold me a 36 months lease instead of making the deal for 39 months and then the finance guy changing it to 36 (just in the next 10 minutes). Again - as with any common consumer, I do not have the skills to match that of a finance manager for a car dealership.

It seems you are trying to make a point that since I signed the papers, I am responsible. I agree. But that does not prove the dealership did not 'trick' me.

I understand I am now stuck with the contract and have accepted the loss. All I am trying to achieve with this posting is that it may spread some awareness to unassuming consumers like me and they can be careful of such tricks from dealers.
