I've lived out of state for over 4 years and recently moved back to Oklahoma. Desperately I searched for a job that paid at least as much as I was paid while living in Georgia. While searching the local job market I even went as far as Tulsa and Oklahoma City. I found a few different ads in OKC that caught my attention, especially an appointment clerk position that paid $2375 per month and had a benefit package. I should have listened to my gut instinct, after all, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
I was employed by "Covenant Filtration," a company that sells filtration systems, water softeners, and reverse osmosis systems to residences and businesses. At 1st the job seemed ideal: the company sets up 3 appointments per day, they had "over 60,000 leads," and they offered generous compensation to do in-home water testing (shows as they call them) 3 per day x 5 days a week= 15 per week and 60 per month which was the 30-day quota.
In addition to good pay for working about 6-7 hours per day, they offered a benefit package available after 90 days, as well as fringe benefits for the sales we made. For example, the 1st weekend after training, they offered us prizes we could "win" in a contest for sales... such as $400 and a 5 day, 4 night cruise for two to the Bahamas for the 1st sale, $400 and a palm pilot, leather briefcase, or radar detector for the 2nd, 3rd was another $400 and a $250 shopping spree for work clothes, and 4th for $1000.
The "contest" supposedly went thru the weekend only, thru Sunday at midnight, but Monday they extended thru Tuesday midnight, and on Tuesday(although I wasn't there on Tuesday) they extended thru Thursday night. I made 1 sale on Sunday and actually worked "down to the wire," closing the sale at exactly midnight!
They told us that the sales that were made prior to Thursday midnight got paid the following Monday morning. Imagine my surprise when I went to work this morning... no check. had to wait until 3:00 pm. Okay, no big deal, I just have to wait around the city for a couple extra hours before I can do my "shows." So at 2:30 I go back to the office and tell them that I have a show at 4:00. which I did. and that it takes me over an hour to get home.
Add another 30 minutes to get to the show and get set up! They told me that because the finance company hadn't cleared the setup and installation with the customer that bought the system from me, I'd have to wait until the following Monday to get my check! Needless to say, I was LIVID!
I asked a marketing manager if the customer was to get a hold of the finance company if I'd be able to pick up my check. they told me yes. So I did, called the customer, had her call the finance company, then waited to sign for my $400 and cruise vouchers! Once they finally got everything squared away, Aaron Wells, one of the marketing managers, called me back to his office so I could sign for my check! I followed him into his office, sat down as he handed me the check, and to my astonishment, I didn't have $400 on my check, but only $100! I was depending on that check for gas and to pay the deposit on an apartment!
When I asked Aaron why I was shorted $300 on my paycheck, he stated that the $400 depended on the credit line my customer landed on! When I stated that our class wasn't told about the a, b, or c-line until the Monday AFTER I'd made my sale, he argued with me, and stated that if I didn't "stop with the negative attitude," I should just turn in my kit! I told him that the whole company was a sham.
The two weeks I worked there, several things that we were taught during training were contradicted.
Other examples of the scam:
1. Offering a 5 year supply of soap and cleaning supplies (shampoo, laundry detergent, air freshener, furniture polish, etc.) as an incentive for the customer. The company provided us with a leather case with all of the different supplies in sample form...
THE CATCH: Although we'd been told EVERYTHING in the leather case was included in the 5 year supply, they later stated, after our customer's had been shorted 1/2 their supplies, that only one side of the case was included in the 5 year supply.
2. Stating that we were guaranteed NEVER to go door-to-door because they have enough leads that it'll take "over a year to sort thru" as stated by Mike York.
THE CATCH: for 3 days we've been required to go door-to-door having people sign up for a "$500 gas card give-a-way." The people that sign the flyer agree that the only reason anyone will call is if they win the $500 gas card or if they win a free water analysis, "A $150 Value," which there is no charge for anyway. The catch is that the flyer says "$500 gas give-a-way with in home water analysis." This makes the consumer think they get the $500 is someone comes into their home and tests their water.
3. Guaranteed that each water analyst will have 3 demos each day set by the office.
THE CATCH: For 4 days, no demos for any of the group that started on 7/11/07 because we're forced to go door-to-door or ride with one of the other 3 "veterens" (There definition of veteren is anyone who's been there thru the 3 day training course and starts a full week.)
4. Told that as long as we tried and did the best we could at the demos and flyers ("All I can ask of ya'll is that you do the best you can!" Mike York) we wouldn't be fired. that we would have to terminate employment ourselves.
THE CATCH: Today we were told by Aaron that if we didn't have 10 flyers signed when we came in the next day we should just turn in our water test kits!
5. Guaranteed that the demos the office sets will be potential clients that are aware of the "show" and how long it will take.
THE CATCH: Although I never had office set demos, I rode with a "veteran" who had been with the company only 3 weeks and the 1st demo that was verified wasn't interested in having their water tested, had no idea we would take at least an hour to do the test and show the benefits of soft water, and already owned a system from a competitor so had no intention on buying a filtration system. In addition to that the wife stated that the only reason they agreed to the test was so they could win the Hummer that was on display at Penn Square Mall in OKC.
6. Told that a single woman would never go to an unmarried man's house and vice versa, also that if the house being tested was owned by a married couple, both parties had to be present.
THE CATCH: The "veteran" I rode with was sent to a single woman's house and he had the appointment set up BEFORE I was asked to ride with him. Therefore man was sent to single woman's house.
I'm just very frustrated because I wasted 2 weeks of my time, money, and gas to drive back and forth to the city. once again, over 1 hour one way. Not to mention that the system I sold was to a friend. I'm now worried that what I told her when I sold it to her, is bull just like the rest has turned out to be! My concerns are for her as the consumer as well as myself as the disgruntled employee of the company! I also know that from my group alone there are at least 5 people that are embarrassed and stressed out over this situation. There were only 12 out of 18 of us still with them the Monday after the "friends and family" weekend.
I just want to warn everyone else that sees the 5 or more ads they place in the paper and responds that is is a hoax, a scam, and everyone involved there is in on it, even if they seem honest and ligitamately sincere. There are different names for the same scam and they are listed under 4 different employment catagories in the "Daily Oklahoman" AND they have at least 4 different phone numbers to call, I called at least 3 for Covenant Filtration and 1 for AquaFUZION!

#10 UPDATE Employee
Covenant is a Good company and better product
AUTHOR: Shawn - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Monday, December 07, 2009
I work for Covenant Filtration currently. I have sold many systems and have yet to meet a single person who has not Loved their system. I also have seen many people come and go in the sales group. This is not the a job for everyone. Many people claim the company is a rip off and that only comes from those who really are not willing to work for there money and have no way to drive themselves to successes. To many people these days want a hand out. I was promised allot when I arrived and started with them. Since then Covenant filtration has delivered on EVERYTHING they have promised.
The opening report doesn't seem to know how business works. If you read the full materials when you are hired you will see where it states that you get paid on completion of sales. This includes Installation and payment or said financing as well as the clearing of the 72 hour state law of buyers remorse were the buyer can cancel in the 72 hr period after the sale. To many people thing well I sold one tonight so pay me tomorrow.
1. What if they don't qualify for financing? It takes 7 to 10 days to get this completed.
2. What if they cancel in the 72 hr period that is alloted by LAW? well if you sell on Saturday and Sunday doesn't count on the 72 hrs period then they have till Wednesday to cancel and you wish to get paid on Monday after you sell it.
As you can see many people do not seem to understand how business is run. Many business owners will tell you that there are times you will do work for someone and will not get paid for up to 60 days.
As for covenant filtration they have been very good to myself and everyone I have seen walk through the office. They have honored all commitments that they put in writing. EVERYTHING I have gotten and or was promised has always been in writing. This does not sound like a company that is dishonest.
The owner is a good man who wants to see other succeed. They give you all the support you need as an employee and as a customer. I have seen them go WAY out of there way to help their customers with installation and pricing. They have even "not charged" people for issues with their plumbing and other issues that were not related to the water max system at all.
For the person who is looking for a good solid quality system for there home please call Covenant Filtration and ask to have Shawn come to your home and show you the system. I would be happy to explain how everything works. Don't let what some people who have their own personal issues with themselves who decided to falsely take it out on this company because they do not know how to read what was given to them.
I made 2500 my first week and have made even more since then. There are some paydays I do not receive a check because everything is still in closing. If you ever have bought a house you will know. You write the check to buy the house but you don't move in the next day. Closing can take many days to complete. once it does you get your home. Same thing here. When its installed, cleared finance, you get paid.
Welcome to the real world of Business and Sales!!!!!!

I was contacted by this commpany tonight because I was told: "You came by our office and signed up for our free car giveaway." I have never been to thier office. I have been looking for a product they carry for my home so I told the lady I would look at thier web-site tonight and contact them in the morning. However, I am very Particular about doing business with companies that do not treat thier staff right. As a consumer if I do business with the said company I am just as guilty as the employer of taking advantage of my fellow man. This is one sale they will not make.

This is INCORRECT information.

It's amazing to me when I look at this report how the individual that wrote it has the time to do so. I am an ex employee of Covenant Filtration and I never had any problems with getting paid. Furthermore, I sold many units to many customers. All of whom I personally followed up with and are satisfied. They all received what they were promised and they all were satisfied by the customers terms, not mine, nor the companies.
I've seen so many people just like you that came to work for covenant and then quit. I've found that everytime this is the case the person who quit NEVER fulfilled even a portion of their contractual agreement that they made with Covenant. You worked there for 2 weeks and the contractual agreement that you made with them, assuming it was the same as every other one that is made, is for atleast 30 days. Apparently, according to your own words, did not fulfill that agreement. That would label you under the category of "wanting something for nothing".
I would suggest that before you start making claims that customers did not receive what they were promised, you should check your information. I hope you are aware of the legal repurcussions that can be made for false claims affecting a business. I believe you did that with another company that you listed on your initial report and then backed off your claim. It's called.....vibil. It is very serious.
I hope all is well for your life now and God Bless. Let me take this moment to say that when I came to work at Covenant I worked in a glass warehouse and went to college. I took the position of part time and paid for my semester of schooling while I earned a scholarship for grad school and got my life back on track. This is a fantastic company to work for and to do business with. Their products are second to none and I'm truly in love with my Hague Water! Thanks Covenant!!

Apology to AquaFuzion....
AUTHOR: Mrsdjb - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, September 01, 2007
I would like to apologize, first and foremost to the employees, managers, customers, and owners of AquaFUZION. The employees of Covenant Filtration, myself included, were misinformed by a local news company. We received an email stating that the reason they couldn't air a complaint on Covenant Filtration because they'd already run a segment on this company, AquaFUZION, and another Aqua-something. They informed us that the segment included these three companies for "cheating their employees out of a paycheck." This was what we were told, and once we were informed of this, we were not contacted again.
Second, we were also told by this news station that these three companies were all owned by the same group of people and ran the same "scam." Thus we were all shocked to hear this since we, at least 3 of our group, had called and had interviews set for both companies. All 3 of us got "suckered" into the same scam.
Third, Covenant Filtration might sell "quality" water filtration systems and brain-wash their employees what to say, but everything that was told to us on our first Friday there, contradicted what we were told when most of us were disappointed in our check!
Once again, I would like to apologize to anyone involved with AquaFUZION. You all were poorly represented in that email we received, and therefore, poorly represented in this report. I apologize. Your company sounds outstanding.
I would like some more information about your company from people who work there; products sold, employee pay, and so on. I would truly appreciate it. Thanks.
And I cannot apologize enough to AquaFUZION, but we were misinformed.

Get Your Facts Straight!
AUTHOR: Matt - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, August 29, 2007
I am an owner of the Aquafuzion franchise, which is partnered with Brevity Water Purification out of Oklahoma City. Although I am not located in Oklahoma City, we do have a franchise there. I am writing this because a couple of our employees and customers have brought this link to my attention.
Aquafuzion is in NO way affiliated with Covenant Filtration. None of the employees mentioned in the article work for, or ever have worked for our company. Grouping us in with this article written about a seperate company could be considered Libel because it has now affected my employees and my business. It is not the fault of Aquafuzion in any way, shape, or form that Jeanne was harmed by another company and by simply grouping all water companies together shows ignorance. Although it sounds like there might have been similarities in our ads, their programs and ours are not alike, but I don't personally know anything about Covenant Filtration.
Aquafuzion is a respectable company and we have partnered with some of the largest companies in the water business to design our programs and products. We are responsible for hundreds of incomes across the southern United States, especially Oklahoma and Texas.
I recommend that you remove Aquafuzion's company name from this record immediately. Libel is a very serious offense and I now have 3 documented accounts of this particular article affecting my business.

I appreciate you sharing the information. I know each company offer great products.
However, I contacted a few sources in the media and found that Aquafuzion was not part of the segment regarding employee treatment.
I appreciate your warning and I hope you never have this experience again.
My experience was great the 6 months I was at Aquafuzion and my clients are satisfied as I actually called them.
Take care and good luck to you!!!

Regarding Products Sold By Covenant Filtration (C.F.)
AUTHOR: Mrsdjb - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, August 17, 2007
The product that C.F. sells is a Hague Filtration System. As far as the system goes, the product is of high standards, made with top-of-the-line quality products, and my client is satisfied with the product itself. As far as the way C.F. runs their company, they treat their employee's with disrespect and their clients are basically ignored once the system's installed.
For example, when my client got their system installed, the reverse osmosis system, which removes contaminants for drinking water, made a hissing noise. The installer didn't explain to my client about draining the system so the pressure could build back up! They also didn't bring the full amount of soap they were supposed to receive. I also don't know if they received their manufacturer's discount of not, which they were supposed to receive after 2 weeks.
As far as the way they treat their "employees," not paying someone what they were supposed to be paid, making promises to motivate us to make a quick sale (and then not following though), and then cussing someone out when they question why their paycheck is drastically shorted, is not a good company.
C.F. claims to be members of the B.B.B. and the local and national C.O.C. but I wonder if it's C. F. or the Hague Company.
About the segment on "In Your Corner," it was done on both companies about the way they treat their "employees," not about the faulty product. If I am wrong, and you have found documentation stating otherwise, I would really appreciate it, then I would remove my complaint on AquaFuzion. Believe me, I will not remove my complaint on Covenant Filtration! I still want to warn anyone who researches this company to know, "Don't work for them. If you go to an interview with them and there are 20 other people, then you go into a big room with a big screen TV and a faucet... turn around and RUN!" Also if you are a consumer looking for a filtration system, Hague Quality Water is a good company that makes good quality filtration system, just look for a more legitimate company to buy from!

Researched Claim
AUTHOR: Mgonzo - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, August 17, 2007
I took the time to research both companies (Covenant Filtration of OKC & Aquafuzion of OKC) for everyone's convenience. Unfortunetly, it seems there has been some confusion. I have contacted the Oklahoma Tax Office, Attorney General, Better Business Bureau, Corporation Commission, and Chamber Commerce. I found that these companies are not affiliated. They both have different addresses, tax numbers, owners, and use different product lines. Finally, I found that the claim on at Your Corner was a misunderstanding from both parties. The company was accused of providing a defective product. I found that the client's water well had fallen; therefore, mud was being drawn into the holding tank. The system they sell only removes calcium and magnesium.

AUTHOR: Mrsdjb - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, August 16, 2007
I responded to an ad for AquaFuzion as well and had an interview set up to work for them as well. I learned that Covenant Filtration and AquaFuzion were owned by the same person from a co-worker who got a response from KFOR's "In Your Corner." They apparently had done a segment on both companies and had established that they were both "Scam" companies.
If you would, I would love to learn about AquaFuzion, and what you did when you worked for them. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Clarification for my former company...
AUTHOR: Mgonzo - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, August 16, 2007
I feel sorry for Jeanne. I'm sorry you had that experience. I wish you would have contacted Aquafuzion first.
I was employed by Aquafuzion for quite some time, but for personal reasons, I had to move away. However, I wanted to clarify that Aquafuzion is probably one of the most upstanding companies I was ever associated with. I know that the company just partnered with General Electric and I'm pretty sure that the GE wouldn't not have partnered with them if they were even remotely unethical, deceptive or an unlawful company.
I had no prior relationship with the owner until I worked for the company and I have only good news about the organization.
Good luck Jeanne and I wish Aquafuzion the best!!!
