I received a promotional offer to get Cox Tv for $25 a month with HBO, Starz! and the Advanced TV Package. I get it installed and it isn't the Advanced TV package, it is Advanced TV Channels - which is Music Choice.
I call them and explain that the ad was misleading. The rep said she understood and that it happens all of the time, then says they can get me into what I want for $45 instead of $25. I was reluctant, but agreed.
Two weeks go by and I noticed the bill online was $150 not $45. I called the customer service again. They said since I was an existing customer for getting the $25 package I wasn't eligible for new customer pricing. I explained what happened and he understood. He looked at the notes and it said the first rep was waiting for approval from a manager. The computer wouldn't accept the over-ride. He said it will be adjusted before the bill was due.
The bill came a couple of days ago and it was never adjusted. $150 for cable. So I called back. The new customer service person said I wasn't able to get the new customer pricing because I upgraded my package. I didn't upgrade - I was offered the bundle I was led to believe was in the ad for $45 instead of $25. She wouldn't budge. She said she could get me a rate of $85 for 3 months. I told her I wanted what was promised to me by 2 different reps. She wouldn't do it, so I canceled my TV with them.
This is the problem with their customer service. They would rather lose a customer than right a wrong. I thought I would share this as a buyer beware scenario about Cox Communications.
My main issues:
The ad seemed intentionally misleading. It advertised Advanced TV. When you go on their website Advanced TV is a mid level package of TV channels. When you get it installed it is techically Advanced Channels - which is their name for Music Choice whish is the TV radio stations only. I was given local channels, like the networks you can get with an antenna, and Music Choice.
The service was installed as a new customer, but then I had to change it a day later and I was then considered an existing customer. The first 2 reps said they had remedied the problem even though they didn't. The third one said I had to pay full price. It went from $25 to $45 to $150 in two weeks... iI suppose it really happened in 2 days, but they kept stringing me along saying it was $45. The bill came and I had to pay $150 for the cable service. They offered no refund.
