Recently I placed an ad in craiglist about a golf cart sale inthe area of the Florida Keys, where this type of transportation is highly used.

Little did I know, I was about to receive hundreds of responses expressing interest to buy it. The problem started when all of these emails will say exactly the same:

Very interest in the item you are selling, you don't need to take care of anything, I will send you a certified check and will send a personal courier to pick it up at your location"...Please send me the address where check can be send and where item can be pick up........

Since no name appeared in any or most of this emails, I had the feeling the these emails were "scams". I asked someone who usually do lots of Internet sales and he prevented me to send any personal information about my bank or location. I was told that they use your bank information to put more money that what you are asking in a form of wire transfer, and then come back later and take your money out of your account.

In conclusion, I decided to respond to all these emails that : "I will only accept people who can identify themselves and personally can come to pick up the item at my place, and the only form of payment I will accept was "CASH" or "Money Order".

Since then, I have not received any other inquiries of these people showing interest in the purchase of "golf cart".

Please beware and report this to others who can fall in this trap and may be rip off of their BANK ACCOUNTS!

please post any comments if you are a victim or if something similar have occurred to you, in an attempt to sale anything in "CRAIGLIST" or other Internet method.

Let's together help INNOCENT people and abolish "Internet fraud"

The above 4 words along with CASH only should be in EVERY ad you run. These scams are all about 419 and their worthless cashiers checks for more than the amount are common.
Their checks eventually bounce and you are out the item.
They do NOT care about the items. It can be a horse goat, laptop, watch etc.
Listen to ClarkHoward.com and you will hear plenty of these.
Your friend was right to STOP you from being a pawn in  part of the scheme.

Suggest a phone number not email, the real buyers will call, the scammers usually do not. If they are NOT local and you can NOT meet up with them at a local public coffee shop then the response is NOT REAL.
I hope this helps others...!
