Please, please, please do your research before giving a credit repair company your personal information and money.  I was completely naive when it came to this type of organization because, by the grace of God, I've never had credit problems until recently.  In my most vulnerable time I found this company on line.  My "counselor" who I don't want to identify publicly, was kind, chatty, sympathetic, a little careless with the details (mis read my credit report a couple of times and I had to point out his mistakes) but generally a person and company I thought would be reliable.  When this individual told me he could get a foreclosure off my credit because it was reported incorrectly I becme very enthusiastic about the service.

It was about that time my "counselor" smelled the blood.  He quoted me a price of $350 for an initial sweep, followed by six months at $199 a month for additional review.  Keep in mind however, I have a good credit score with one blotch, albeit a massive blotch.  After giving this shark my personal information, including stuff I should never have sent and now I'm embarrassed just admitting that, I started to think that if a foreclosre can be removed from my credit for that reason, why isn't everyone doing that.

Especially as credit agencies are notorious for mis-rporting things.   So I began the research I should have done in the beginning.  Now I'm mortified to be aditting this in writing.  But, after doing my research I found people made glowing remarks about CRE, but these people had horrible credit that required multiple sweeps to get things elimitated.  So then I called an attorney fiend of mine who told me to run as fast as I could and cancel the agreement immediately.  NO ONE CAN GET A FORECLOSURE OFF YOUR CREDIT FOR ANY REASON.  I immediately sent the shark an email and cancelled the agreement.

Since then I have heard nothing from him.   I tried contacting the customer complaints dept. and found there isn't one.  I tried calling other departments only to find no one answred their phones and/or voice mails were full (not a good sign).   I have now found a good, reputable compny that is charging me $50 and they are registered with the BBB.   (CRE IS NOT).  The new place have given me a realistic expectation of the best case scenario for my foreclosure details with no B.S..  Please don''t do what I did.  I was very, very stupid.

Getting foreclosure off credit report doesn't really help anyway

AUTHOR: FloridaNative - ()

POSTED: Monday, December 16, 2013

I understand where you are coming from regarding removing the foreclosure. However, as you have found out, you can't really get the foreclosure legitimately removed from your credit report if it is within the legal reporting time period if that is how the mortgage terminated.

Having said that, some people have been successful, but it is rare. Note also, even if you get it completely removed from your credit report, it does not change the public record of the foreclosure. Plus it is absolutely required that you disclose the foreclosure when you make application for another mortgage if you make application within 7 years of the date the deed transferred back to the bank. Pull up the standard mortgage application form and you will see the requirement under section VIII Disclosures on the 1003 form (standard form used in the business).

The good news is this: the further in time from your foreclosure, the less impact it has on your credit. And, after 7 years and 180 days the notation is removed from your report entirely anyway because that is the maximum time period that the information can legally be reported. Also, if the reason you want it removed is to obtain a new mortgage, there are programs available for a new mortgage within 3 years of foreclosure, even with it reported on your credit report. Sometimes even more quickly than 3 years.

In any event, thank you for reporting this awful company and their sneaky tactics to get their hands on your money. You are far better off working on your own credit without the help of a credit repair agency. So many of those types of agency's seem to be scammers rather than professionals.
