i have heard the jingle( credit-report-dot-com),
seen the commercial on tv,
ran accross the name several times online.
i filled out online form with my personal information(name, address, phone, soc. sec. #).
CreditReport.com claims this is a free offer(in fact vindale.com is suppost to pay me $5,paypal or check,to evaluate after)
i submitted this form with my personal information,to CreditReport.com,who is now refusing to do anything without a valid credit card.

They have sloppy Credit card security practices

These companies do not bother to use the 3 digit Security number on the back of your card to allow verification of the account holder info. All they care about is a valid cc number that they can charge against. Hence, many people's credit card numbers get erroneously entered into this process, and Recieve unuathorized charges. What does Creditcard.com Care, they still get paid, and don't have to spend the xtra $ on the security verifcation module in the Credit card acceptance package. If they guess the right cc Numbers, they have the absolute ability to Abuse this, and STEAL money from hapless victims. What do they care. They have NO ETHICS! Remember this is supposedly from a Premiere Credit reporting agency's Subsidiary.... What a Bunch of unethical Asses.

Where is the rip off?

Does this look familiar? It is directly from the FRONT PAGE of the website for CreditReport.Com. This, like most sites offering "free" credit scores, enrolls you in their credit monitoring service which you must cancel after the trial period, or they will continue to bill you. This is why they ask for your credit card information before they will provide you with any information. All ads and jingles I have heard include similar information.
Further, you have not stated you spent ANY money or were otherwise taken advantage of as a direct result of providing them your information. Where is the rip off?

As said here, on the news, in newspapers etc the only place to get a free credit report is from ftc.gov. click on free credit report. You enter info that the government already knows and you wont be billed a cent.
