I've been with Cricket Wireless a long time. #1 I've went through 1 phone on average a year due to water damage. The typical response to buy more expensive product after another! I did not pay the monthly service fee for phone protection. My phone stopped working (this time) 1 day before the manufacturing warentee was up. I still had to pay the $55 in which $20 would be refunded to me if it wasnt damaged. They said it was corroded. No monay back.
I asked for a new phone under the warantee. QUOTE she tells me, "I cant garuntee if its new or refurbished because they all come in the same box when they get here." I asked if I bought a new phone how they could garuntee then that it was new if it came in the same box? She never answered NOTICE the boxes are never sealed???
#2 I was on one of their original very old plans and inquired about other services they now currently offer. OOOPS deleted my plan and now I can't get it back again! Im currently paying $20 more than I did originally.
#3 Customer friendly no way! Metro Center Store a few times I was so angry I left. I drove 15 miles to the next store becaused of it. The other further store didnt have all the items I wanted. I had to return to the Metro location. The same girl treated another person even worse I got her name. Observing this behavior it was more than obvious it was discrimination. She was nice to anyone Hispanic and utterly rude to anyone who wasn't. Complaints to the call center in the Philippines sound so scared to loose their job if not defending the company. Still no resolve and nothing ever changes.
#4 My son paid for a new phone. His service was cut off without getting a month free as advertised. They said if you buy a used phone you dont get the month free and looked it over thoroughly AGAIN proving they aren't sure which ones are new or used unless they look at the bill to see how much was charged!
We didn't pay the next month after arguing for the free month that we were told we would get just to have the phone shut off! 3 weeks went by and we paid $60 to have it turned back on and then shut off AGAIN 10 days later!!!
They call it ""SUSPENDED"" This was never explained or given us in writting. If you want to turn your service back on in the month they ""SUSPEND"" which all of us would call it ""SHUT OFF"" a $15 fee is charged to turn the service back on AND your current monthly amount due.
We paid $60 to be ""SHUT OFF"" 1 week later only to owe another month. They also say this ""SUSPEND"" money that one pays to cont. keeps your phone number. Unfortunately this charged amount doesn't include high speed internet and cable TV. haha WE CANCELED!
Total amount paid for 1 1/2 months of service $22 + $60 + $200 phone = $282 Why didn't we just fly to Hawaii ???

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Hopefully this explains SOME things...but you can NEVER explain poor customer service
AUTHOR: M - (U.S.A.)

I will address each of your issues by the numbers that you presented.
1) With your phone issue, the way that it works is that if the phone will be replaced under warranty, you will usually get a REFURBISHED phone, and NOT a new phone. Why? While you bought your phone new, it's no longer "new". There's something called "depreciation", and it even applies in the cell phone world just like it does in the automobile world. Will a car manufacturer replace the car you bought brand new with another brand new car if it breaks down? No...only if it CANNOT be fixed. They will simply fix your new (now OLD) car if the parts are covered under warranty. So that's not necessarily a "bad" thing.
2) Those old plans were much worse than the new plans. You had to add features to them, which made them more expensive than the new plans they offer now. Do you remember which rate plan you had and how much you paid for it?
3) Cricket's reps have had increasingly poor customer service skills since 2005. They are piss poor now. I would report that rep at the store to the store manager, especially if you think discrimination is involved. I would secretly tape the conversations between you and her and between her and other customers to prove it.
4) So he bought a "new" phone? If the phone was $149 or more, it was probably new. If not, it was NOT new. Also the way the "free" month works is that your FIRST month of service is included in the cost of the phone, NOT the following month. If you bought a phone on the 15th, your FIRST "free" month of service is until the 14th of the NEXT month...which is when your bill is due for the NEXT month of service. Basically, you are pre-paying for your services BEFORE you use them...you are ALWAYS paying for the NEXT month of service when the due date comes. Many customers misunderstand this and think Cricket's screwing over people. This is not true.
Answer these questions:
- On what date did you buy the phone?
- When was the FIRST bill due?
If you can tell me that, then I can put you in the right direction...
Hope this helps...
