Crnkovich Landscaping Rick Crnkovich Unfinished Job LeRoy New York

A few years back we were looking for someone to re do our bathroom.  It was Christmas time and we were at Crnkovich Farm Market getting a tree.  Rick Crnkovich was taking care of our tree and we were talking about remodeling work.  I asked him if he did bathrooms and he said he did.  He said he knew where we lived, and would deliver our tree.  At that time he would look at the bathroom.   Fast forward a few months.  Rick calls and asks if we are still thinking of remodeling our bathroom.  He said Spring is coming and that he would be busy with his landscaping business.  I told him let me talk to my husband and we would get back to him.  In the meantime we were calling different companies for estimates.  Rick would continue to call/text asking if we were still interested. 

A year goes by and we decide his price was the best lets go with him.  Big mistake!  Please take this seriously people.  Rick came across as a nice, hard working guy.  And he is.  But honest and trustworthy he is not.  He did the bathroom and I will admit he ran into some unexpected problems that he took care of for us.  And he managed to always need extra money for the unforseen problems.  We paid him because he did the  job at hand.  Okay, this was winter time.  Spring time is here now and he is still working on the bathroom.  His excuse for taking so long was not only the problems he encountered with the bathroom but he had personnel problems with his snow plowing business and he needed to take care of that, but he would be right over to finish.  And, of course, he needed money to continue.  We really did not think anything of it at first because after we paid him he would complete a portion of the job.  And we were pleased with the little he did accomplish.  Now we are at the end of the bathroom project and he had installed the last big piece which was a linen closet. 

I did not like the closet and asked him to take it out.  He was very accomdating and took the linen closet out, saying he could use it in one of his rental properties.  He also said he had a few loose ends to do in the bathroom and when he figured up the final bill he would credit us for the linen closet.  And we were fine with that.  But now the problem comes.  We were trying to have a fence installed and we wanted it right away.  I asked Rick if he knew anyone who could do it or even if he could.  He said he would do it for us.  I told him we really needed it right away and he said he would finish the bathroom and get right on the fence.  Like I said it was Spring and he needed to get back to his landscaping business.  A week after the conversation Rick called me and said he spoke with the fence place and that he needed to order the fencing right away.  He said he needed the money upfront. 

He quoted us $6000 and he needed $5800 right not to secure the fencing. He said after he put the fence up then he would give us the final bill.  My husband did not want to give him the money but I insisted.  I said he is a local he won't scam us.  Well, he did.  He took the money and never did the fence.  Nor did he finish up the loose ends in the bathroom or credit us for the linen closet.  He did give us $3000 toward the $5800 but he won't give us the rest.  It has been over 2 years now and all I get are empty promises.  Law enforcement said this is a felony but because we live in the town I would need to contact the sheriff or the State Troopers.  I called the sheriff and they said this is a civil matter and I need to take him to court.  Adding that I will probably never see the money again and even if they did put a lien against his company he would need to sell it in order for us to collect.  Now I am hearing Rick is known for doing this and getting away with it.  So, please, it may be too late for us, but do not do business with this man.
