I brought my vehicle to this dealer to have the vehicles first ever brake change and to check a noise on the front left side. I paid over 400 dollars just for the brakes, I'll get back to the front end noise soon.
When I arrived home the brakes we squeeling terrably. I let it go a few 100 miles but they just kept squeeling. I called the dealer and was told I would have to wait a week to bring the vehicle back to be checked.
I brought it back and found that the auto mechanic who originally installed them removed them from the vehicle and was soaking my OEM brakes (Original Equiptment Manufacturer) in fluid to soften them up in addition to recuting my rotors (what pads ride on and press against to stop vehicle) additionally they sprayed some type of oily fluid on the rotors as well. I left knowing I would be back since first and formost nothing should ever be sprayed on you brakes and they know better, I was not happy that the rotors were cut a second time either thinning them out.
Within a day the brakes are back to squeeling. Again I call the dealer and again a week later I bring the vehicle in. They again repeted the same process recutting my rotors and again I went home with squeeling brakes. I had to let this play out since they were really stumpted.
Now I am disgusted and ask for the service manager who acts like he's always in a big hurry doing nothing. His name is Darren. He informes me he contacted the dealer and the brakes were suppose to have shims installed!! (shims go on the outside of the brake pads to take up extra space)
Another week goes by and a new set of brakes and shims are installed and again my rotors are cut, the squeeling finally stopped. Now I ask you what professional mechanical shop could not possibly know the brakes needed shims. I had assumed they were installed to begin with because even I knew this. A mechanic fresh out of school would know this.
At any rate the squeeling was finally resolved after 4 wasted all day early morning return trips. Now two things. I asked that a plastic cover be installed of the gear shift knob that was damaged by another shop. As soon as I drive the car to the gas statiion the key refuses to come out of the ignition.
I am back in the shop and the service advisor who either is completly clueless or plays the part extremely well trys to get the keyout. After multiple attemps he looks at me and saye "We didn't do it" I about lost my mind at this point. So now there trying to to tell me my safety switch is bad (an expensive part) At this point I'm not buying this story and watch the mechanic take the cover off fool with some things (cause more cosmetic damage) and all of a sudden the problem is fixed........Switch my @ss. Now about that noise in the front end. So while all this is going on the service writer Jeff tells me "Your srtut is all bent up in there". Now I had several parts replaced by the insurance company Gieco (why NOT go anywhere else) but somehow this shop knew what the problem was and an OEM strut was replaced. Of course you can imagine what I'm about to say, it did not stop the noise!!.
However the dealer reported to Geico that the over 600 dollar strut they replaced cured the problem even while I was stating it had not. Geico now feels there is no further problem. Oh and when I asked to see this alleged "All bent up strut" Jeff the service writer refused to show it to me. Why, because there was nothing even wrong with the original strut to begin with that's why. This shop was about the worst I had ever experienced Not even an appoligy for all my trips and time nothing but attitude, like they should be annoyed. Oh and forget about the service managers manager Frank Segretti who will go out of his way to hide from you. Over all stay away from this shop. Brakes are auto 101 and I am not sure why there is such incompetence there but if you can't get brakes right then you can't get anything right personally speaking. The saftey switch....Well lets just say suspicious. The strut just a fat lie.
