My wife and I purchased a 2001 Ford Taurus from this dealership. When we looked at the car it was at night in Febuary and we liked the car, but when we went to start it it would not start. We jumped the battery and that did not help. The salesman wanted to put the battery from my trade in the Taurus, but it was to big. So we had to wait till the next day to pick up the car because they were to put a battery in the car. When I picked up the car they told me that the car did not have a serpentine belt, so thay installed a belt, that was the problem. HOW DO YOU DRIVE A CAR WITH NO BELT?
This week (5/26/2014) I took the car to a Ford dealer for some work. They informed me that the car did not have a compressor for an air conditioner. Therefore, the car does not have air. The previous owner or Curbside Motors removed the compressor for whatever reason. When the belt was repalced the mechanic did not inform us that the air conditioning compressor was missing, which you would have to notice when replacing the belt. So what kind of mechanic's do they employ?
I went to Curbside Motors and talked to Robin one of the managers. He invited me to come by and pick another car to trade the Taurus with. I could not do this because I had only made three payments. I was told by Robin that it was on me to pay for the repairs. This does not sit well with me because I was told that the car had air conditioning when in fact it doesn't. Therefore, we were lied to! But hey, anything for a sale right? How do you in good conscience do this to your customers who work very hard for every buck in their paycheck! Robin stated to me that "We don't check the cars before we sell them, that's the coustomers responsibility" WOW! That is deep! I am 55 years old and have bought over 15 or more cars in my lifetime and have NEVER had a dealership to treat me the way that this dealership has, who's main concern is to just move vehicles no matter how overpriced they are and/or what is wrong with them. But because most of their customers like me and my wife have credit issues, they feel that thay can just do whatever they want because we are desperate to have a decent vehicle.
I am a retired Chaplain from the PA Department of Corrections and I got better treatment from inmates than I have from this dealership! At least with inmates I could see it coming.
So now because I put my trust in the words of what the salesman told me as to what it was that I was purchasing (that will never happen again) I am stuck with spending God knows how much to rectify this horrible matter on my own. The salesman told us that he wanted to make sure we were good people and that we could be trusted to repay the loan. Well, I have not and don't intend to miss a payment because I will hold up my end of the deal. And it looks like I'm the only one in this matter that is willing to do that, it's called INTEGRITY!
If you have credit issues go directly to CreditConcepts.com and get preapproved for a loan and go to a reputable dealership to purchase a dependable vehicle. They will work with you.
If you decide to purchase one of Curbside's overpriced/mechanic special vehicle's because you are stuck because of your credit report, take my advice... bend over because you are about to get screwed!!!

It is possible that you may have a legitimate claim against the dealer for fraud

Normally when you buy a used car it is sold 'AS IS' and all the repairs are on the buyer.
HOWEVER, in this specific case the dealership represented to you that the car had a/c and when you took it to a mechanic, it didn't have a/c. To me this is misrepresentation or possibly fraud, but you would have to show it to the court to prevail.
If you have any proof at all, take the dealer to small claims court or even civil court if a consumer attorney will take your case. For example: proof would be something along the lines of a contract showing that the car has a/c, an ad about the car stating the car's features including a/c and the mechanics report showing that the car does not have a/c. There may be other forms of proof of misrepresentation. Contact a consumer attorney first. Make your claim as soon as possible. Good luck.
