On my latest home phone bill, there is a $12.68 charge for a collect call for 2:00. I wasn't even home when the call was made. I called the customer service number and told the rep. that no one was home to accept the call. She said they are allowed to charge even if an answering machine picks up. I got very stern with her and said they are not allowed to charge anyone for a collect call that is not accepted by a human and unless they have a tape of me accepting this call, they will credit me immediately.
The rep told me she will credit my account, but it will take 2 billing cycles to show up on my home phone bill. I'm not holding my breath. Can't we get the FCC involved? Isn't this illegal?
