Cutting Edge Industries / Mike Applebaum Mr. Applebaum refused to pay for 700,000 temporary tattoos we fabricated for his company for $12,600.00 and so far refuses to take or return my calls. He claims they are unusable but we have been printing temporary tattoos for one of his other suppliers for 14 years without any complaints. When we told him we would be late in delivery he said hold up later releasing them for shipment. San Jose, California

Mr Applebaum with Cutting Edge Ind ordered 700,000 temporary tattoos from us. (We have over 14 years experience manufacturing these without one single incident of customer dissatisfaction.) We contacted Mr Applebaum when we realized we could not complete the order by the deadline. He told us to continue. We did, shipping in partial shipments using his UPS and Yellow Freight account numbers. Then he told us to hold up due to their taking inventory. That was okay. During that time we finished the job. We shipped the completion of the order when Mr Applebaum said so. Now he says the order was late, the printing was out of register, the tattoos were cut into, the tattoos were cut too large, the boxes were mixed up. Well, if any of this is true, why did he continue to receive all those shipments? Mr Applebaum won't take my calls or return my calls.

Actually I found out he has no plans to pay our invoice of $12,600.00 through a phone call from a third party, John of Springfield, Mass. Now, we can only summise Mr Applebaum is using our products and is not paying for them.

Bad Business Practices-false enticement

AUTHOR: Randolph - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 15, 2009

It is true that we ordered tattoos from Charles at Knightbridge Graphics at the urging of John Bloch from Springfield, MA. We negotiated a price of .02 per tattoo including freight. I was told by Charles and John that Knightbridge (Charle's company) had done many tattoos prior to this and had the expertise to provide what we wanted. We found out that, in fact, they did not have the proper equipment or expertise and delayed the orders for months while trying to get the necessary equipment. They sent out the orders piecemeal with no thought to organizing the product in such a way as to make it useable to the end user. They were very aware of EXACTLY what we needed as to sizes and glue lines. The product they sent was unusable in any way. Many were incorrectly cut so that they were either too large to fit in our packaging or the directions on the back were cut off.

On each shipment, which we paid for even though they were to pay the freight, we were told that they had FIXED the problems, but each shipment got worse instead of better. On many of them, the glue ran so they looked terrible. Others had the glue in the wrong areas so the tattoo could only partially be applied. Others had missing liner paper so that they were dirty because of dust sticking to the glue. When applied to the skin, the tattoos would flake off, though they should last a few days.

I paid the freight on all the shipments which was several thousands of dollars. So I lost the freight money and had no product that was saleable. I told Charles that I would send it all back if he would pay the freight. He refused so after more than a year, we threw the product out. We did keep some samples and have pictures of the product. We had to reprint the entire job at another tattoo company. We never were able to use Knightbridge's products. Not only do I feel that we should not have to pay the invoice, but Charles should reimburse us for the freight. Knightbridge should never have taken on this job in the first place. They lied to us when they said that they were well equipped to do this job.
