Today I received an e-mail with a 30% off "Entire Purchase" coupon. I went in the store and bought $42.00 worth of items. I presented the coupon and my ExtraCare card. After paying and getting ready to leave the store, I checked my receipt, and they only gave me $3.00 off! I went back in the store and talked to a Manager. I explained to him what happened and he went off to fix it without saying a word. After 10 minutes, he finally returned with $10 cash. He never said a word to me, no "I'm sorry for your inconvenience", "thank you for waiting", nothing. This is the third time this has happened to me at CVS. One time, I didn't get my discount at all, and another time they didn't give me enough again. When you go to correct it, the clerks act like you're bothering them and putting them out. CVS employees are the laziest people ever! Very unprofessional! I have to say that the Pharmacy is very good at this location and I will probably return because of that, but no more regular shopping. Their prices are very high, even with the store coupon.
I guess the gist of my message is, if you're using a coupon at CVS, check the receipt! I wonder how many people have been ripped off because they don't notice that their receipt is wrong!

Here's the deal with those coupons

..and, believe me, we run into this ALL the time, and if I were king of the world I'd immediately make coupons illegal because there's no bigger pain in the neck in my job :).
Anyhow, those CVS "x percentage off" coupons don't cover everything. The big thing they don't cover--and every single oen of them says this, though not in the biggest print--is sale items. So, anything you bought that's on sale, you won't get the extra discount on. (Why? Because those discount coupons are modeled on our employee discounts--which also don't work on sale items.)
So, unfortunately, "I spent $42 and only got a $3 discount" doesn't tell me anything. I'd have to know how much of that $42 was on sale items. I'm guessing that's what a lot of it was. The manager probably should've pointed that out, but, instead, he threw you $10 (that, if most of your purchase was sale items, you shouldn't have gotten) and, if his store is anything like mine is, he did so because you were probably the 48th person that shift to complain about the coupons. It gets tiring.
I am by no means anything even remotely connected to management. I'm a peon. I've worked at CVS a number of years, I'm not a kid, and I can calmly explain this to customers. And I still get screamed at.

Complaint not justified

"I was merely trying to tell people to watch out"
This is Ripoff Report not Watch Out Report. The clerk made an error so you posted an unfair complaint.

- Really I could care less about your post. But you are just fooling yourself if you think you are never going to go shopping there again. It doesn't take a mind reader to know that you will. Your history shows that on more than a few occasions you have shopped there with errors and high prices and you keep going back. If your prescriptions are there you will find a reason to pick up items every now and then, and you will probably try and find a reason to justify it.
By the way if you really think I am an employee why would I tell you that if you really wanted to make a point to transfer your prescrition out of that store?

How can you possibly know what I'm going to do in the future? Wow, you must have a crystal ball!
Yes, I have shopped there after having problems before, shame on me! I guess it's my fault that CVS didn't give me my full discount. And yes, I didn't see the error until I left the store. I was in a hurry, shame on me again. You're saying that CVS didn't do anything wrong because they corrected the mistake. Yes, they did only after I noticed and brought it to their attention (nicely, I might add).
Listen, I was merely trying to tell people to watch out and make sure they get the correct discount. Sorry if I gave too much information on my experience. I'm wondering why my post bothers you so much? Are you a CVS employee?

So according to you their prices are still higher even with the coupon, they have had issues in the past where you don't get your discount. Yet you not only still shop there but didn't notice the error until you left the store? Are you really saying that the total didn't seem too high to you especially with a 30% off coupon.
I have to say that the Pharmacy is very good at this location and I will probably return because of that, but no more regular shopping
- No you will be back to do regular shopping...your history has shown that they can charge you high prices, not take off the discounts and you will still return. It may not be this week or even this month but eventually you will return. If you want to send them a real message then transfer your prescriptions and let them know why.
